right now i am watching handball on KBS (korean tv), korea vs. iceland, and right now the halftime score is 16 to 13, korea.

i've watched the olympics all this week, and it seems to me that the korean tv stations all like to broadcast the games that the koreans excel at. sometimes i would be watching field hockey, and the time would just lapse, like one moment it would be 19:00 left in the half, then the next minute it would be like 13, 7, 5, and so on. it seems like they are just doing highlights, so it must not be live.

i wonder tv is trying to brainwash the koreans into thinking that every olympic game they play in they excel at. i mean like every time i watch the koreans either win gold or get a silver. and always during the breaks there is always a commercial for womens archery or the next soccer game.

what do you guys think?

Yeah but they still show what the public wants to watch, same with Korea (perhaps for different reasons, i.e. politics vs ratings). Shooting may be just a sport no one gives a crap about, so it's hard to compare

I was waiting in line at the hospital today and saw women's skeet shooting on NBC.

DAMN YOU!@!@

Well, like I said, it's a bad example since the States is probably showing everything anyway for ratings. But less popular sports don't get prime air time even if we excel in it (though, usually they're directly related)

They are just showing highlights and skipping "boring" parts.

What you are suggesting can be applied to all stations around the world, including the U.S.

<---- sometimes watches KBS too

well, let me put it this way. for all the olympics coverage i've watched on nbc (and i've watched a lot), i've seen about... 48% swimming, 48% gymnastics, 1% biking, 1% shot put, 2% synchronized diving.

There's not really any argument to be had here... They're not going to show sports that we suck at, because we don't like to know that we suck.. They're also not going to devote hours to skeet shooting, because, well, it's shooting a freaking dinner plate. They leave that crap to the Eternally Showing Poker Network...
