Just started watching this and it's interesting. I don't really like Ron Pearlman but so far he seems to be doing a pretty decent job in the lead role.

I think the city it takes place in, San Vincente, may be the same town Vinci is based on in True Detective 2 but being on the east coast I have no idea so it would be nice to hear from other people who watch this.

It has the undertones of corruption, a land deal, etc. but those aren't central themes, at least not yet.

The story revolves around a judge (Pearlman) who believes he is receiving messages from god and the pretty ungodly things he does about it. The messages relate to the attempted suicide of his son. Don't want to give more away than you'll see in the first episode.

Wife and I are watching it. On Episode 5 or 6. It's decent.

The guy (Garrett Dillahunt) who plays the convict is really convincing and he has quite the repertoire. There's one scene where he realizes how wrong he was to follow Harris that is really emotional - especially when the importance of what he destroys was made so clear in previous episodes. It's worth watching just for his acting. He does such a good job of splitting the difference between dumbass racist convict and right-hand man.

The series looks interesting but I have to finish a few others first. I think the second season of "Mozart in the Jungle" is due soon too?

It depends on what you mean by 'soon.' It premiered last year in February, probably to take advantage of the big gap in programming the Olympics caused. So it's possible this year's premier will be earlier, maybe around the xmas lull.

How can a relatively high budget TV show survive on Amazon Prime subscriptions?

Amazon must be taking a huge loss on this.
