Hand driers

Anyone else notice electric hand driers in bathrooms work a lot better than they did 15 years ago? In the past it seemed to work push button wait forever then wipe hands on pants to dry. Now they actually work with one or two pushes on the button.
What’s changed?

I’m wondering if they are leased now with automatic replacements I rarely see one that is old.

Thats because the old ones did this:

I’m hoping there is an AT guy who works in the industry. Do modern driers put out more BTUs?
I'm guessing it's warmer air, at a speed that almost blows the skin off your hands. Modern dryers blow harder than the old school ones, and they seem to be a bit warmer.

Higher fan speed, IMO. Most of the work is done by knocking loose water off the hand. Basically, more air, less bacon these days.

But no, sadly I don't work in the hand-drier industry.

Higher air pressure I'd say, probably coupled with a more powerful heating element. Would not be surprised if those things are pushing like 20 amps at 240 volts.

I hate the ones where you need to try not to touch the edges though. It's like some kind of game. I imagine the American version of that is you have a cop behind you and he shoots you if the hands touch the edges. A fun game for the whole family!

I'm on the electrical side but every one I've done has been the same specs as always, typically around 2,000 watts. Haven't done one of the Dysons. In my experience the previous World models mostly worked well but the recent models (of several brands) have a LOT more air flow with presumably a little less heat (BTUs) since they draw the same overall power and do indeed work much better.

These are very common and are pretty insane when it comes to air movement. My biggest complaint is that they are installed at head height for kids. I don't know what the decibel rating is on them but they are really fucking loud. I'm waiting for lawsuits on hearing damage to kids from them.

Good insight, I hate the dyson model. I don’t like how the hand opening appears dirty and it’s far too easy to touch

Its the feel Meat.

Like women. If she cares about you it feels like a loved one, if its a hoe, it's gunna feel like a hoe you know? Nobody wants that hoe feel.

Work very well, just loud as all hell.

The old ones were heat based, I usually turn it on when I enter the men's room, so it's nice and warm by the time I'm done washing my hands

This Dyson is a little better:

I hate the other style because the airflow is uneven (especially at startup), so it’s impossible to not touch the sides.
