I know it won't hurt me, but should I risk wasting the hamburger?

Don't let the mix go to waste so long as the meat is fresh! Take pics, eat, and report back for delicious updates.

It's hamburger help for chrissake. That stuff is meant to be stored in fallout shelters. It never goes bad.

That which doesn't kill you....

....will give you the runs for a week, and possibly explosive diarrhea.

That shit's loaded with preservatives - it'll be good after you're dead. Oh I'm a dumbass and voted for the first option.

Why not? The potatoes are just fine, if there is a seal still on the plastic bag. Sample a bit of the white powder on your finger and make sure if it still tastes OK first. If not, you can still use the potatoes, just add the water, milk, butter, and some seasoning (which you needed anyhow) and make it without the powder. You could substitute some tomato sauce or some other kind of canned tomatoes if you think that is not enough. Just eliminate the milk if you don't use the powder and add tomato. Add onions, too, if you got any. Saute the onion with the meat.

Everything is dehydrated... so nothing will grow on the mix - I'd say your probably fine eating it.

...but why not just throw the $1.25 box of mix away? /facepalm

Bahaha, I just voted, and selecting choice #1 made coming into this thread worthwhile.

I wouldn't eat Hamburger-Helper for any reason short of impending starvation & it being the only food available, however if you enjoy the artificial flavor by all means go for it.

I prefer Soylent Green Helper, myself. I just can't seem to stop eating that stuff.

Why would someone risk an ER trip over a $1 food item?

I take it you don't have insurance either so us tax payers would have to foot your stomach pump.

An ER trip?!

You guys crack me up. There is no way that an expired box of hamburger helper would send anyone to the ER to have their stomach pumped.

My concern was that it wouldn't taste right, not that it would make me sick; I knew it wouldn't do that.

The hamburger helper was fine, couldn't even tell it was old.
