Rep. King: Halt Arab Immigration, Saudis 'Almost Enemies'

A leading New York congressman said Sunday that the U.S. should halt all further immigration from Arab countries because most of them support terrorism, and that Saudi Arabia should be considered "almost an enemy at this stage."

"I've always been very supportive of immigration in the past," Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg.

"But I think perhaps it's time to consider actually stopping immigration from countries which harbor terrorists and countries which do not fully comply with us on terrorism. That would include most of the Arab states, quite frankly," King said.

Since the 9-11 attacks, the U.S. has issued more than 50,000 visas to Middle Eastern Arabs, according to the newspaper Human Events.

King called continuing immigration from countries that sanction terrorism "a time bomb," and suggested it was time for the Bush administration to begin viewing Saudi Arabia as a potential enemy nation.

"For years we considered (Saudi Arabia) an ally and we would sort of give a wink and a nod when they would say or do something that was not appropriate 'cause we felt that in the final analysis Saudi Arabia would be with us," the Republican moderate told Malzberg.

"But more and more it's becoming obvious (that) they're not with us," said King, noting that 15 of the 19 Sept. 11 hijackers came from Saudi Arabia and the fact that the Saudi's continue to bankroll groups that foment terrorism.

"I still think there's hope in dealing with Egypt," King said. "There's still hope in dealing with Jordan and perhaps Morocco.

"But I think as soon as we can cut loose from Saudi Arabia it's going to be a plus for the United States, because it's not even a question of creating problems for us," the influential congressman added. "They're an absolute - really almost an enemy at this stage."

We all have the right to our opinions.

And you sir are a Grade A MORON!

Hahaha I am glad you idiots only say this stuff online where no you can touch you. If anyone of you had reall balls you'd be on tv saying this crap and wouldn't be hiding behind a forum name. You people are sad.

We cant just close our eyes and pretend that nothing happened. We must deal with the fact that Saudi Arabia is not the close friend that it was in the early '90s. The recent decision to close Prince Sultan Air Base to US forces is just one example of Saudi Arabia's post 9/11 attitude towards the US. Although I dont think closing our borders is the answer, we must recognize that this is not a friendly country.

*prepares for the flamefest*

I guess down in Louisiana as ur profile says ur from, you dont run into many arabs? ... Well anyways, what makes it that a citizen arab is more trust worthy then a non citizen? I can tell u that atleast 20% of the immigrant citizens really dont feel ties to america enough that they would fight their original country for america. I think u need to grow up and realize u cant classifiy all arabs as terrorists.

What kind of car do you drive ? How many gallons a mile does it get ? Did you help vote in Big Oil ( aka Bush jr, and Cheney ) into office ?

It's definitely true that many arabs aren't terrorists. However, we should place the burden on the arab community to weed out the dissidents among them. Has this happened? NO. The arab community has harbored the terrorists among them. Why?
Because although not all arabs are terrorists, MANY, MANY share the same sentiments that the terrorists do, albeit on a more composed and guised level. You better believe that they, and many other muslims secretly "cheer" inside...

I would say Saudi Arabia is toeing a thing line but that is not what this thread is talking about. It is talking about blatant discrimination of arabs. Ah fvck I am pro-israel but not all arabs are terrorists and people should realize that. In fact most arabs are NOT terrorists. Jesus people. There needs to be stricter control on immigration period. Whether Asian, Arab, African, European, Mexican or friggin' Icelandia. Whatever. We should rethink how open our border is. I guess my point is this is NOT the way. Singling out one race or culture to blame all our problems on. Heil Hitler you nazi.

Halt ALL Immigration I dont care what color or race they are.

For 2 years.

Let the INS join the 21st Century so we can track people who visit and then overstay their welcome as well as beefing up the border north and south.

or better yet, why not kill every arab on earth, that'll solve all our problems, right?
rolleye.gif

oh, and after that we can kill all the chinese, cuz they're different (of course that would include all americans of chinese descent too), and after we're done with them, we can send the blacks back to africa and nuke the eurotrash.

The sad thing is, behind closed doors a lot of people from these countries above the age of 30 really are America-haters. Not that they'd ever give money to terrorism or even say their beliefs in public, but they do think along those terms.

What does this have to do with Saudi Arabia closing an air base?

Almost an enemy? How about is an enemy. Many of the hijackers came from Saudi Arabia and a lot of the radical islamic schooling comes from Saudi Arabia. The only reason our government is buddy buddy with them is because we have huge investments in oil fields down there.

poster is a moron, the post is moronic (whatever it came from)

and you bigots coming from under the blankets, are morons 🙂

Of course we can't, and it isn't a great friend since the only reason we are buddying up to them is for their oil. But it doesn't give us a right to say they are all terrorists(I am not saying that your post implied this at all)

Also yes, there are many people in the world and in the arab culture that dislike some American policy, but it doesn't mean they will plan a terrorist atack on us. Just like there are many in the US that dislike some Arab countries policy but it doesnt mean one would commit an act of terroirism on them.

I also agree with Millenium's posts.

I fully understand US dependence on foreign oil. Humor me and tell me why my MPG causes Saudi Arabia to close an Air Base.

Also, just a bit of education and correcting people (including myself) that have made this mistake in the past.

Is Islam mostly an Arab religion, then?
No. Only about 12 percent of Muslims worldwide are Arabs. There are more Muslims in Indonesia, for example, than in all Arab countries combined. Large populations of Muslims also live in India, Iran, other parts of East Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Islam has a strong Arab flavor, though, as the religion's holiest places are in the Middle East, and the Quran was originally written in Arabic.

I got the Q and A From here(GREAT site with 100 Q and A's on Arab culture, politics, family, and stereo-types associated with them)

And also confusing Islam and Muslim.

Another thing that I've noticed here that some pole are saying...

Muslim = Christian
Islam = Christianity

For example...

My best friend Jack is a Muslim/Christian.
My best friend jack practices Islam/Christianity.

What is the difference between Islam and Muslim?
Islam is the religion, and a Muslim is a follower of the religion. It is like the difference between Christianity and Christian. The adjective form is Islamic.

/me feels relieved 😛

I'm not trying to flame or anything, but if a pack of rabid dogs was running around the neighborhood along with the nice dogs that normally run around, Would you be so inclined to walk up and pet a dog?
