Halp! DIY fix for cracked eyeglasses frame?

My sister's eyeglasses frame is cracked and she's desperate for a DIY fix. Any suggestions?

I would look for a plastic epoxy, something like: http://www.permatex.com/products/au.../Permatex_PermaPoxy_5_Minute_Plastic_Weld.htm

I have no experience with that specific product.

Burn the tip of a sharp knife or fork tip until red hot, then melt that sucker back together.

Thanks. I get the feeling it will be difficult to get epoxy into the tiny crack...but I'll have to try it.

Even if the plastic cracks all the way around, it will not just fall off. The plastic is bonded to the wire. Trust me, I've worn glasses longer than you or your sister have been alive. 😎

yea def a wire inside, the stresses on that thin plastic snap any adhesive quick i bet, and bonding a repair strip of metal as reinforcement willl look pretty awful.

any epoxy is thick, the plastic epoxy i used a couple times was like custard...stank to high heaven as well.

you gotta either force it to slide part way off the wire or wait..and even then...it might not last.

I don't wear glasses much, but even with a wire inside broken outside plastic can be painful.

Frames can be picked up for bucks. Unfortunately I am usually spending $300 or more on mine 🙁

I never wear my glasses outside of home usually so I am thinking of some BCG's (Birth Control Glasses, no woman would fuck you with them on).

Tape it

Unless she's bald, no one sees that part of the frame as it fits behind her ear.

Try 1 layer of tape, just so no skin gets pinched in the crack.



Or find matching or compatible arms on a cheap pair of $2 drugstore reading glasses and swap them off.
