I'm using a Radeon 8500 LE 64mb and when I play Halo sometimes it runs perfectly fine. But sometimes and when it does happen; the game randomly restarts and continously keeps doing it after I try to boot it up after the restart. It getsss realyyyy annoying because then it might stop, and then when I try to change my video settings it restarts. I later changed it so the blue screen option came up instead of windowx xp auto restart option and it syas there a problem with the 3dx, or something like that, specific file. I've made sure my drivers are installed correctly, my cpu gets relatively hot after a while but I'm pretty sure for an Athlon Xp 1800+ with no extra cooling except 2 case fans, that a 66 degrees Celsius temperature is pretty normal after running for maybe half an hour, or an hour. So what should I do to stop this?? In a couple of weeks I will be getting the Radeon 9700 Pro, but I want to know how to fix this so I can play in the meantime.

mboards usually read high temps... unless you live in africa, or your CPU fan is dead, the CPU probably wont be actually that hot...

patch halo. Its a well known problem that halo as is does not like 8500/9200 and will reboot you, unfortunately :/ So I bought a 9800np and it still runs like garbage

Update the BIOS on that NP to Pro and you shouldn't have problems. Using the new Catalyst 3.10's with my Radeon 9800NP flashed to Pro, I have had no issues with the speed of the game...runs great at 1280x1024 with all eye candy on (No AA/AF).
