Could you please contribute something to the conversation?

This isnt Off Topic.

Also, no. I played it once, thought it was simple and boring, did not go back.

Use to play with friends all the time maybe a decade ago. Love the default hand gun and shotgun for up close. The floaty jumps and just being touched by a vehicle...oh that was gawd damn awful programming.

It ran horribly on PC

This.

Gearbox essentially took the 30 FPS game on Xbox and ported it directly to PC still running 30 FPS animations. To be honest though, I highly enjoy Halo on PC, where I played it first. I'm still jealous that none of the Halo games have been ported since 2, which is the weakest game in the series.

I take it we aren't talking about Halo online, the so far confirmed for only Russian release halo game?

I've been playing the cracked/hacked english copy that is floating around the past few weeks. So far its a decent game, online multiplayer works decently well enough, though far from perfect, lots of rubber banding and bugs to work out still.

I will say having the sprint functionality of Halo: Reach on Halo 3 maps is certainly interesting, not sure I like it. Makes Valhalla a bit more enjoyable to play though.

I will be more excited if/when microsoft announces an actual EU/NA release. So far it's still only confirmed for a Russian release.

I loved how vehicles couldn't be destroyed. And teamkilling was permitted. I had hours of fun flying around in the banshee on blood gulch running over my own team then going over and running over the enemy and coming back to my own team, rinse and repeat. At least until one of them got lucky with the fuel rod gun or the rocket launcher.

Warthog was also good for this. Ah memories :awe:

Anyone who hasn't yet tried Halo: Custom Edition deserves to take the day off and download some maps or campaign missions.
http://hce.halomaps.org/
Custom Edition is a free download that is basically another Halo installation. It uses your key for multiplayer and for installation.

I had a blast in Custom Edition; especially with the campaign, and multiplayer maps with AI.

I don't really play Halo on PC anymore, but is something that can be a lot of fun with friends. Master Chief Collection on Xbox One isn't anywhere near as sandbox-y

My buddies used to install it on flash drives so we could play it on the computers in our engineering classes in 2007. We were on a fixed curriculum which we blew through pretty quickly and filled the rest of our time with 4 on 4 matches. Probably the most fun I've ever had gaming. Basically LAN parties 3 or 4 days a week during school. Hard to beat that.

Halo 2 is the best in the series by far.

Did that at my school from 2007-2010. Also did it with quake and soldier of fortune.

Microsoft should release the remastered master chief collection cheap and make it Win 10 exclusive. That will get more people on 10. Never will play them on console. PC or nothing.

my main problem with the game is the lack of anti aliasing, but the last time I played (single player only), MLAA solved it for me... as for the rest it looks a lot better than the original Xbox version, mostly because it's not running at 640x480

also, the 30FPS animations are distracting, but it's worth playing at 60FPS, mouse movement feels a lot smoother as expected, and you get used to the 30FPS animations....

Bretty much, I felt the same way. You get passed the animation limitations and just enjoy the game.

And I've never heard of Halo: Online, and it makes me jealous!

They need to bring it back because the consoles are so woefully underpowered leading to framerate issues that are exacerbated by HDTV input lag. I would be unstoppable with the BR on a m/kb in the later Halos.

If you just want a Halo 3 graphics PC sandbox of halo then you might look around for a download. It runs at 60fps for me, looks great too.

I really hope microsoft brings this to the EU/NA markets.

Having played a few hours I have to say I am impressed. Overall, the visuals 'ok', but I don't care; Halo is fun.

I was extremely disappointed with Halo: Master Chief Collection and it has left me itching to play some Halo again. Halo: Online is good because it is really simple. I hope they add more Halo 4 features because honestly, that's what this game reminds me of more than Halo 3.

Overall, the game feels pretty clunky; especially compared to Halo 4. I still play with an Xbox controller because the aim assist is still there. I got a few running riots and didn't find a real disadvantage against kb+m users; but I used to play A LOT of Halo.

I am worried that this game will never really become of anything and that if it does get released; the current host system will just become unbearable. I would love to see dedicated servers with all of our favorite playlists with a good anti-cheat system. Just having to play some BTB on Valhalla with sprint and BR's was a blast.

If this gets released internationally, I would easily buy it; provided it had a host migration system and PLAYLISTS. Dedicated Servers would be a nice touch but I am not too optimistic.Evolve has a really low player base with this game so there isn't a lot of people.

Well it is 343 we're talking about here. Halo 4 was just about spot on, anyone could party easily, join games, leave games, it was such a blast (and the 360 blade interface was far superior to the Xbone's for organizing parties). MCC just about ruined the franchise as far as MP goes. The Halo 5 beta was fun but proved to me that 343 doesn't know how to setup hosts or servers.

Actually, wasnt halo developed first on PC? I remember the demo and was anxiously waiting for it them they announce it would be on xbox only, then a couple of years after that they put it on PC.

It was actually supposed to be a Mac release before Microsoft bought Bungie, then forced them to make it Xbox exclusive (with a later games for windows live release). It was also originally an RTS, not an FPS.
