I have played Halo on the PC (borrowed copy), and just purchased an Xbox. Which version is preferable for online play (PC or Xbox)? I do have xbox live.
My main concern is the lack of mods for the Xbox version. Although I have not looked to see if mods are all that big for the PC version.

Halo doesn't support Xbox Live, Xbox live didn't exist when Halo came out. Halo 2 will be the first version to officially support online play. I say officially because Halo supports System link (hooking up multiple Xboxes to a LAN and playing), and there are programs out there that will allow you to play online using System link (for FREE), but this means no chatting via headset and needing to have a PC to play online.
Mods are available for the Halo version of Xbox but you need a modchip. If you want the best online experience for Halo, the PC version is probably the way to go but the Xbox version is definitely fun using System link online.. (just sucks that you can't talk to anyone).

I think I can make this deal hotter for some, this is what I just did this morning.
I bought three Best Buy gamers cards for $20. Each card comes with a $5 coupon of any game $19.99 or higher.
I then bourght two of the Halo controllers $19.99 each and price matched Halo at $19.99.
I used a $5 off coupon on each, so that made each item only $14.99.
Halo and 2 Halo controllers for 44.97 + tax!

It's just got the turbo and programable button options. It was $39.99 last week. There is also a bunch (problably 30) $5 off coupons for various games in the box too. It's an OEM controller for $19.99 w/ a couple of extra features, seems like a great deal, especially since the "regular" controllers are $29.99.
