At least you did not buy the collectors edition like I did, bah, I should have known not to buy an overhyped game. Anyway, last console game purchase for me.

actually, i liked halo2 online - still do even though I refuse to pay microsoft. I play WoW anyway.
 
The future of FPS will lie in co-op. However co-op in Halo has always been a tacked on feature, it doesn't fit at all with the storyline (if there is only supposed to be one surviving "Master Chief", in co-op there are two running around...)

It should probably be fun playing through it with a friend but so far I don't have much reason to believe the game is going to be anything other than your typical sequel - trying to grab money based on the name it carries rather than through new and innovative game play.

Halo and Halo 2 are good games, but the people who claim they're the best FPSes ever are either teenagers or complete morons. Halo 2 was a definite step down from Halo 1.

I'll buy Halo 3 because everyone else will and I like playing on XBL. 🙂
 
Maybe it will have an Archives Redux type level. You...you....remember the archives right? The player could suffer temporary insanity during the level too.

i would have preferred a 3rd person action game.

also, they had a lot more cool guns including the chaingun and a katana. and chief looked better IMO 🙂
 
I find all FPS games garbage anymore.


So yes, I dont mind Halo.
IMO, it IS indeed the king of shooters.. whether I or anyone else likes that or not. Its got to the most popular, and possibly the best selling FPS ever.

Picking a "best FPS game ever" is like trying to pick your favorite poopsickle.
BF2 is buggy. Quake4 has gameplay from about 10 years ago. HL2 is pretty damn good actually, and prob would be most peoples pick (but to be fair, still old gameplay styles with new graphics).

Quake Wars appears to be what could be the king, new age massive battle gameplay like Battlefield, but its actually not programmed by an ape.
UT07 is unreleased, same as QW.

Considering all of this, I'd have to pick the Halo series as the overall king.

I have Halo for PC and its a good game. The key to Halos success is the fact I can lay back in a couch and play on an Xbox with a pretty decent shooter.

Or I can sit here like a robot at a desk meant for an executive and play Counterstrike Source.
I dont have any Xbox (but plan on the 360 when Halo3 is released) but I like the idea of relaxing on a couch. 🙂
 
That's what they said about Halo 2. What I have to say is that I'd rather it feel more like Daikatana than that overrated piece of shit.
 
I recently borrowed Halo for PC and played it. Although it was interesting for the first 30 minutes (when you just land on Halo, the scenery is pretty cool), it got boring fast. I don't know what all the fuss was about. Perhaps Xbox version was more entertaining due to co-op feature?
 
for people who think MS ruined Halo, here is all I have to say. From day one after Bungie showed screen shots, Halo was graphics to me. I knew the story would suck, the weapons would be typical made up sci-fi crap. I never understood how anyone thought the game would be great on any level besides graphics. Maybe it's the fact I find shooting Aliens on spaceships boring, but Halo was bl3h to me. Never played Halo 2, won't play 3. But I'm not the typical gamer, as such MS will make billions off Halo 3 🙂

Originally Halo was much more than graphics and shooting aliens. It was basically a tactical strategy game in the vein of Myth, another game that was much more than graphics.

EDIT: Come on man. This is eye candy? Half-Life looks much better than it.
 
i loved halo2
level design was awesome too, the architecture actually looked more "otherworldly" compared to all other alien games with the exception of Prey
 
I hated Halo: CE because the level designs were really repetitive and long. I had like a friggin headache everytime I had to go through a similar looking corridor like friggin 5 times!
