Personally I'm a bit disappointed for a game with this much hype. Halo3 doesn't look much different than Halo2 PC. Gfx look good but nothing exceptional. No Gears of War thats for sure.

Gameplay also doesn't looks like it has evolved much.

It looks like it could be a well polished addition to the franchise but don't see one aspect of it that is pushing new ground.

Right now, Shadow run is looking far more appealing.

I'm pretty PC biased so im wondering if you xbox kids are seeing more to this than I am.

You really think a chip as weak as an X1800 could handle those visuals at a 1280x720 wih AA? :p

i think the shield thingy-majiggie will absolutely redefine the multiplayer tactics (not that it's revolutionary, but the DM strategy will be entirely different)

I think the graphics are a tremendous upgrade over Halo 2 (yes, even for the PC). And at this point, we're still most likely 6 months away from the release. Everything is better, from the geometry of the levels, particle effects, and most of all, the lighting in the levels, on character models and weapons.

ALL of the videos and pictures released before the past couple of days have been less than stellar. But the videos and stills from the beta product are fantastic, you can tell they've worked on all the little stuff.

Bungie has already said they are working on gameplay before graphics. I expect the graphics to be a lot more polished at release.

I'm not that concerned with the graphics. I didn't expect Gears of War-quality graphics. Halo 3 is much more wide open, and draw distance means a lot more than polygon count in this case. Judging from the write-ups on this, it is tremendously fun. And anyone who questions that design choice need only consider that Halo 2 is still being played by nearly a quarter million people every day on Live. I'm going to be taking off work on the 16th and 17th just to play the Beta, and I'll bet I'm not alone.

I have played the beta for a while today, and yes it isn't a revolutionary step compared to Halo 1. It feels like a mixture of Halo 1 and 2, very fast paced. The best part, it is a blast to play.

Starcraft and Counter-Strike are the only two games that you can say this about. Plus, consoles have a much more finite life than PC's.

World of Warcraft is well on its way to becoming one of them, nearly 4 years and over 8 million people playing it. Whatever your excuse, the fact remains that the PC has the games which last the longest and have the largest communities.

What in this topic prompted people to begin defending PC's? Apparently, the Halo 3 Beta is fun, but no one can play it without some PC elitist belittling them unreasonably. No one was trying to compare Halo's popularity to Starcraft's, and yet there was a need to bring it up because...? The latter does not somehow make the former less fun to play.

WoW is just over 2 years old (released in November, 2004).

that's where the comparison is made valid. halo2 is a few years old, starcraft is a decade old.

Watching these videos and seeing the impressions makes me realize how overrated the game is.

Impressions = BLAH SO FUN!

Videos = Non-innovative. Just like Halo 2, big deal.
