Halloween remake

how could they screw up the classic. they still have the classic just like it was when it first came out.

I haven't seen it yet, they modernized it I'm sure, artistic licensing at such. I don't think Zombie wouldn't change 1 thing?

Yup

I hate it when people start whining about anything being remade

Happens alot with bands re-recording old albums... Whats the point? The old version is still gonna be there for everyone to listen, how can you be agaisnt a remake? Meh!

The trailer looks great and I think that Zombie will do an amazing job...or at least I'm really hoping he does 😛

I loved the original Halloween and consider it very scary. The newer ones are decent too but they lack the gloomy and dark presence the original had. Hopefully this one will be good. The last movie I saw at the theatres was Borat, so hopefully I will see this one.

Maybe its changed, but I remember hearing that a good chunk of the movie takes place before the original does. It cant be any worse than those ones after 5 or the one that(2 or 3 I forget) that doesnt have any real connection to the rest of the series.

The original Halloween was/is one of the few movies that truly scares me to the core. I've yet to see anything in the last decade that I felt was really scary. Blair Witch and The Ring were maybe the only two exceptions. I'm not a huge fan of Rob's movies but I'm definitely looking forward to this one. And I hope he doesn't try to change it too much.

I'm interested. It looks from the trailer that they show more of him before he donned the mask and started killing people, which sounds interested. Michael Myers is one of the scariest horror movie villains IMHO. The white mask and not being able to see his eyes makes him freaky as hell.

"Have you seen The Fog?"
"Yah, I saw it. What a steaming pile of crap that movie was."
"Wait, are you talking about the original?"
"There's more than one? I saw the one with Superman in it and it sucked"
Bangs head against wall.

I'm sure the new Halloween will suck horribly in comparison to the classic but I'll watch it anyway.

great, now hollywood will remake every sequel to Halloween too. and the tey'll go after Friday the 13th and then we'll have like 500000 of the same movie.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE! GO GET AN IMAGINATION HOLLYWOOD!

I have ideas for movies, hire me.

For me, its about making something new. its just so unoriginal and it's like EA releasing the same fvcking sports games every year with minor tweaks. its just a way to make money, they don't really care about the fans or what they are doing.

Is it just my impression, or is Hollywood trying to rewrite history by making John Carpenter disappear as a director? They're super-imposing other works over his, in order to make him fade away.

They remade "Assault on Precinct 13" - it sucked.
They remade "The Fog" - it sucked.
They're remaking "Halloween", "Escape from New York" and "The Thing". Make no mistake - these remakes will suck.

Hollywood has snubbed Carpenter, to the point at which he is quoted saying "In France, I'm an auteur; in Germany, a filmmaker; in Britain; a genre film director; and, in the USA, a bum."

Sad state of affairs...

May be spoilers below, depends on your tolerance of knowing plot aspects

Yep, and I've "heard" that the movie's not too bad. Also from reading reviews, the main difference in this one is that instead of just being all "yep, Mike Myers is crazy", the first 30 minutes or so details Michaels messed up childhood. They also remarked that it features music from the original soundtrack. One thing I heard is that the entire premise of the movie (Mike Myers trying to kill his family) isn't the main theme in this movie as it's more like he's trying to reunite with his sister.

End possible spoilers

Also, there will only be 3 Halloween movies from Rob Zombie (including this one), not 6 or 7 like there are now (I think there's 7, but I can't remember off the top of my head).

My question: Is it an indication of the movie that it is being released two months before October 31st?

It isn't just you. A friend of mine is a HUGE John Carpenter fan, and Halloween specifically, and he feels the same way. Guy can't get a break, everyone sees the need to "fix" his movies.

I love the original Halloween. Hell I just got done watching it for the billionth time right before I posted this. Even if this movie is great it will never replace the original Halloween for me. I think I will enjoy this new one nevertheless. Enjoy it a lot more than H20 and Resurrection at least.
