Hallowed are the ori.

I think they're ascended Gould and that's why they want to be worshipped.

they are just evil ancients

Then why the desire to be worshipped? Daniel asked this question in an earlier episode, so I think the writers are trying to hint at this. The only explaination that makes sense is that they're ascended Gould like Anubis. Even ascended, they're still egotistical and want to be worshipped as gods.

It seems like to me that they don't just desire worship. They want to actually guide the people toward something.

I think the ancients and the Ori were one species, but the ancients left because of some disagreement.

hmm not yet... 🙁 didn't know they revealed more information. Ignore my comments then 🙂

I don't know, the whole worship us/follow the path of origin or we'll kill you all thing seems to me a lot like they want worship. If they wanted to guide people to something, then you can't really guide dead people. Probably some Gould found whatever device the Ancients used to ascend in the first place and used it on themselves.

Also, look at the Prior. Don't they remind you of the Jaffa in that they're modified humans to serve as the Gould's army to force worship on humans?

Yeah, I haven't watched it yet either.

well, it could be anything I guess. But from the perspective of the show, I think having evil Ancients instead of another Anubis would be more interesting 🙂

some point(s):

- the Ori had no knowledge of our galaxy, if the Ori are ascended Goa'uld, thsi shouldn't be the case
