Hallmark's War on Christmas!

zinfamous

No Lifer
Hallmark has replaced "don we now our gay apparel" with "don we now our fun apparel" on this season's Christmas ornaments.

Hallmark, the Kansas City greeting card company, edited the lyrics of "Deck the Halls" on one of its 2013 ornaments to omit the word 'gay' and has received criticism on its Facebook page that puts the company in an unfamiliar position of defending a product.

The original carol verse goes: "Don we now our gay apparel." But Hallmark's version, which appears on a Christmas ornamentdesigned as an ugly Christmas sweater goes: "Don we now our FUN apparel."
This is a blatant war on Christmas and attack on Christians! When will this PC nonsense and attack on Christians end? Is nothing sacred?

What do you think?

So did they change it because

(1) The old slogan was homophobic?

(2) Christians don't want to be wearing homosexual apparel?

agree 100%

you need to mention muslims and radical islam sprinkled with hypocracy and double standards

They changed it because you're stupid.

You appear to have missed my point entirely.

for

(1) The evil Hallmark corporation is engaging in a war on Christmas to appease PC gay people who object to the use of the word gay as adjective.

or

(2) Hallmark is protecting Christmas from infiltration by homosexuals who can't even keep their gayness out of the birth of our lord and savior Jesus Christ ()🙂

Its all in how you view things.

Your syntax is slightly off. You should have ended with, 'Do you think Hallmark should change the words from gay to fun?'
A- for effort though 😉
Also, in the spirit of synonyms, can't we agree that 'Put on your fun-pants' is the best version of all?

LOL, believe it or not. I thought you were Incorruptible.

Sorry about that.

I think their reasoning for changing the phrase was stupid...especially considering that the tagline on the item:"With its catchy phrase, Don we now our FUN apparel! everyone will be in on the joke" is pretty insulting.

I don't think this has anything to do with being PC or appeasing gays at all. Atleast, not with the way they present the merchandise.

To assume #1 you would have to believe that 'GAY' is a religious term.

To assume #2 you would have to be an idiot.

I know this thread is tongue-in-cheek, but let's face it, if they had released it with the slogan "Don we now our gay apparel," you would have people complaining that they were being homophobic by implying that an ugly sweater is "gay," despite those being the actual words to the song. Really, they were screwed no matter what direction they decided to go with it; best to just not do it at all. Why invite controversy?

Blame English.

I'm not toying around, if the exact same words didn't harbor multiple meanings, none of us would be throwing a fit.

What an anti-Christian story. "holiday ornament" again the MSM continues its war on Christmas and hate for Christians....😉

I know, and I am sick of it. Hallmark is infringing on Christian's first amendment rights to sing about their gay apparel. PC liberals like this because it is an attack on Christmas. They wouldn't do this to a muslim song because they don't want to offend muslims.
