Very sad news to me. Bill Conlin was a Philadelphia institution and a Hall of Fame sports writer. Inspired by the Sandusky case, four former victims have now come forward. Conlin resigned today hours ahead of the story after four decades as one of our town's premier sports columnists.

He gets his wrinkly ass saved by the statute of limitations, too.

I wish I didn't know this.

Barbara Healey, whose son Kevin and daughter Karen are among Conlin's accusers, told the Inquirer that: "I'm really sorry that I didn't do something more at the time . . . Call the police is what I should have done."

Said Karen Healey, now 44 and the mother of three: "Nobody called the cops . . . Everyone went back to living their lives. It's never talked about. None of the kids are offered therapy. We all go on with our lives."

Earlier this year Conlin was given one of his profession's highest honors, when he was presented with the J.G. Taylor Spink Award by the Baseball Writers Association of America at the Baseball Hall of Fame. He also gained national attention as an oft-bombastic commentator on ESPN's The Sports Reporters.

Former Syracuse men's basketball ball boys Bobby Davis and Mike Lang are credible with their allegations of child sexual abuse against fired Syracuse associate coach Bernie Fine, the local district attorney said.

What the heck is wrong with people?

People are afraid of pedophiles...kids for obvious reasons and adults who don't know if the accused will find out who snitched and get revenge.

I just read this. Needless to say I am just floored. I would have never suspected something like this from him. Is there anybody out there without some deep in the dark closet secret.

Fuck Bill Conlin. I hope one, or more, of the victims figures out a path to justice.

A Philadelphia institution or not, the guy appears to be a scumbag.

I'm ashamed for what my home state has been marching out this past year. As a native Philadelphian, I'm embarrassed. This shit was so bad his own paper outed him. Who knows how long this went on, but it's really fucking awful if your own paper says enough. For the profile this guy kept, I hope that every single person that covered his ass gets outed too.

PA ought to think long about the statute of limitations for this bullshit. I'm admitted to a couple of states' bars, and one thing the Commonwealth of Virginia does incredibly well - no statute of limitations for felonies, and I hope I'm spinning in my grave before someone successfully makes a Constitutional argument that says otherwise.
 
Its kind of amazing how many child molesters there are. Im thankful I dont find children attractive. That would be a horrible burden because unlike being gay it will never be an acceptable practice.

Its clearly wired up somehow in who we are and there needs to be some study of this.
 
Aside from "pedo" in the title, I don't see the age of the victims mentioned or implied in the OP. Maybe I missed it...?

...of course, I'm going to read the article since I'm done reading the OP.
