halflife lockups help

ok all other games work fine glide and direct
Half life freezes and sound loops over and over.
All current drivers nad patches and this is the only game to do this
 
more info: If i use astress program on the comp it doesn't do anything bad it just chugs along for hrs.
also If i run this stress program and start hl it won't lockup at all.
But if I run hl alone in about 20-30 mins it locks up.

strange one on me?
any thoughts anyone thanks?
 
1 gig t bird -asus 133 7v- via agpdriver- windows ide drivers -asus gforce gts- win 2000


Its not heat or stability as it won't happen at 100 percent cpu load for hrs but as soon as it is just the game it will lock in 20-30 min
