Halflife & FSAA

Hi, i am running Halflife-Counter Strike on a P3-700@933, 256MB PC133 Ram, GeForce SDR at 1024*768

I want to turn the FSAA on(using the driver),
it dropped from 90FPS(all the time) to 13FPS (lowest, including smoke grenade)

My question is, which FSAA mode should i use?
there are 1.5*1.5, 2.0*2.0[LOD Bias], 2.0*2.0

note,
when i select 1.5*1.5
my 3DMark2000 result even score higher than no antialiasing.
4902 -> 5113

Hmm, thats pretty odd

In half-life, and First Person Shooters in general, I don't really see many benifits of FSAA (IMO). I personally would just opt for a super high resolution. On my system I run CS at 1600x1200.

There's very little performance drop on my system when using 4-sample normal (no LOD bias) FSAA in HL at 1024x768. However, smoke and such could theoretically drop the framerate to absymal levels on SDR GeForce because the fillrate and bandwidth requirements in situation requiring multi-pass transparency go through the roof compared to usual requirement. Remember that 2048x1536 pixels are being rendered when 4-sample FSAA is on.
