Halflife 2 This summer...heh yeah...right

I refuse to buy any additional hardware upgrades until Doom3 and/or HalfLife2 are on the store shelves. The longer they take to be released, the farther hardware prices will have dropped. 🙂

Where does it say summer?
On the ship date, we are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August and we're hoping to see the product on store shelves this fall, but we do not have a confirmed ship date at this time.

That means fall, not summer.

actually, fall starts in september....get it right next time dufus

and that's why you are wrong you "moron". shipment date = fall = september != summer.

In all fairness, the first day of fall is 21 Sep (the date of the autumnal equinox), so a Sep ship date could arguably still be in the summer.

Depends on the way you look at it. I am in college and fall has been starting in August for me for the last 4 years 😉

You know....I remember when i was in either like elementry or middle school...Picking up my PCGAMER magazine and reading. Hey look at that! its TF2! It will be out this year! Oh man this i going to awesome. And now anywhere from 6-9 years later.....they say it might be released with HL2....So I dont take any release dates to heart once they miss their first one.

Uh yeah. If you look at it the wrong way of course it might seem right.

Fall = Sept 21 - Dec 21 (approx)

I don't recall anyone saying that TF2 will be released with HL2. Team Fortress Source (if that's what it's called) is not TF2. Just like CS source is not CS2.

That's good though. The gameplay in CS is awesome; that's why it's still so popular. Updated graphics and physics are all it needs. Well, that and some kind of hack proof anti-cheat program, but that's not gonna happen.

Ummm yeah that's why thousand of universities across globe call it fall  Nobody in academics, business or any other call September as summer. Whether it be the 1st or the 21st.

just saw the screenshots of (source engine version) cs in pcgamer mag,
will other mods like the zombie mod 'they hunger' get updated
graphics /physics etc or will the author of the mod/ enduser need to recompile

God you guys are all acting like freaking idiots.

we are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August.

Does ANYONE here know what a release candidate is? Generally RC's go through RC1, RC2, RC3 (Depends on the company) after the beta period to test against a multitude of machines and environments to ensure it has all the bugs out. It's a finalized code (with all features and in full working order), but they can still tweak and fix minor bugs. Just because they are releasing to Vivendi does NOT mean that August is a "GOLD" date for the game itself. It'll still take time for them to finalize the game, produce the CD's and boxes, then move it to retail chains.

You guys need to get a clue. You?re all making yourselves look like idiots..lol

I don't know anything about making mods, but I do know that the Valve poeple have stated converting old mods to the new source engine will be very easy.

okay, okay, enough of the name calling here. I apologize. But still, you are wrong. ALL of August and Sept. 1-20 are in the summer. You saying August ship date as fall is wrong. Just because your semesters start in August and they call it Fall Semester is different from the actual season dates. An August ship date would be summer, not fallas you have indicated.

Yes if August, but it says September (Fall).
