Half-Life 2 Aimed for Fall
Zips @ 4:43 pm on 7/2/04 - half-life, hl2 & tf2
In an interview conducted by Half-Life Radio today, Doug Lombardi of Valve confirms the company is working toward having Half-Life 2 released during the fall:

On the ship date, we are planning to deliver a release candidate to Vivendi in August and we're hoping to see the product on store shelves this fall, but we do not have a confirmed ship date at this time.

You know, if we could just never hear about this game again <lumberg> that would be greaaat </lumberg> Seriously, can this thing just go away already?

That means fall, not summer.

How many times has HL2 missed it's release date? Only time I can remember is when the source code was stolen....but that's when I started to follow HL2 I guess.

That was the only one.

I'm not surprised. Valve are increasingly losing credibility. Yes, I know they've never offered an official release date, but honestly, how long does it take to finish this game?

I guarantee you no one will care about the "delays" once the game is released, provided it's as good as it looks.

We've all been dicked around. Valve keep releasing new photos, demos, footage, and other "exclusive" content. They've been teasing us, and it's pretty tacky.

Of course, I'm still anticipating the game, and hopefully it'll be worth the massive hype. I just wish they'd followed Carmack's lead and used more discretion when it came to release dates, etc.

WOW, i knew valve couldn't keep a promise and i had a feeling they'd fk up again. lol.

release dates:
- sept 30, 2003
- winter holidays 2003
- aug 2004
- fall 2004.
- what's next, summer 2010?

great job! i used to like hl, how i hope this game just absolutely sucks and that other games coming out will be so much better than this (STALKER, DOOM?).

Bah. By the time they get HL2 released, the games already on the market will blow it out of the water. They've already hyped it so much that I doubt it can ever meet its billing.
