I think I am the only person left that hasen't played the orginal Half life. I bought the retail version of HL2 that came with Counter Strike and HL2 Death match but not HLS. Is there a way to buy it? When I try to buy it on steam its says I already own a copy of HL2 ( I know that already ) When I go to the play games icon it says to buy HLS click here, when I click it says You aready own HL2??????

I believe the only way is by getting the CE or one of the higher versions on steam. I'm pretty sure silver gets it. Retail is basically bronze on steam.

Buying a copy of original half life is probably the best way if you just want to play HL1. As I understand it, they didn't change much between source and original.

I have a copy of the first one. I wanted the source version for the better graphics. Guess its the orginal for me.

I've heard the same thing. A lot of people said not to even bother.

someone put up an article detailing the changes, but any normal person wouldn't notice the difference between the original and the source one.

Not even really graphically?

I'm playing through HL1 now, my old ass copy, and have debated on waiting to buy HL2 for HL1-S, but if it's not too much..~

A while back someone had a comparision between Half-Life, Half-Life Source and the high defininition pack that came with HL Blue Shift. The high definition pack shots looked best overall, but HL Source had better light effects and water. From what I have seen, I wouldn't waste my money on HL Source.
