Half-life patch?

build new computer, locate half-life CD and key. Install and patch to v1.1.1.0.

I go to connect to some internet games (its been years) and it says its out of date?

Is there something special I need to do to update it?

And yes, I'm an idiot. But I did find my old quake3 CD and key.
 
Maybe the patch didn't apply? Does it say 1.1.1.0 in the corner? Perhaps you downloaded an update from previous version patch instead of the full patch. Or alternatively, you aren't trying to connect to a Counter-Strike server with CS 1.5 installed are you? The WON authentication system has been shut down so CS 1.5 is no more. The only way to go is Steam and CS 1.6 now.

guess I'll try search on this steam thing. I just want to play half-life online. (not counterstriket)

-edit- I'm loading and registering this steam stuff. we'll see how this goes.
