half-life on XP

I can't run half-life on XP system. I installed it on my new XP system, but won't start. anyone has run half-life on XP?

Have you applied any updates? I applied that latest patch (1.1.0.8 i think, but not 100% sure) before I played the game on XP and it worked ok, so i dont know if this will cure your particular problem.

However, Opposing Force wouldnt work before I applied the latest OpFor patch (which happens to be 1.1.0.8 as well, but they are two seperate patches i think)

I just bought a Dell 4500.

Intel P4 1.8
384 MB DDR
64mb GeForce4 MX

I don't know what mb is used.

Where can I get the patch for Half-Life?

Have you installed the Windows updates? Also, try updating your video card drivers @ nvidia.com. =)

cjsh you can get the latest HL patch from
here , you need the HL 1.1.1.0 full install patch,if you want to play CS as well you`ll need the patch for that as well ,best to download the full CS1.5 mod which includes the complete game with latest patch.If you`ve the retail version of CS (that came with HL) already installed then the retail CS update patches are there as well.
