Half Life 2

Since I haven't played the original Half Life all the way through (just played counterstrike) who is the guy at the very end of Half Life 2? I think he appears in HL1 but I don't know who he is.

He seems to be like god or something? Can someone help explain the end to me please.

G-man. At the end of #1 you find he is controlling everything in the universe and he forces you to work for him again in #2.

You don't find out that he's controlling "everything in the universe", but you do find out that he seems to be pretty damn powerful.

If he was controlling *everything* I don't think he'd need Gordon.

the story of the hl series really doesn't make much sense at all because there's just too much information missing

but if you insist, gman is somebody who appears throughout hl1 to observe you. he appears to have the ability to teleport himself and you at will and in the end offers you the choice of working for him or die.
apparently hl2 happens because you chose to work for him, and that's what you are doing throughout the game.

who/what is he and what are his intentions? it's never really revealed in the games and one can only guess.

OK that makes more sense. Some people say the ending leaves it open for a 3rd which would we really sweet. I loved HL2.

The story is one of the reasons I quit playing HL2. There was no story! The whole time the NPC's talked to me like I was supposed to know what they were talking about, made vague references to things I didn't know about.. it was stupid.

Loved how towards the end it took you on like tours of the catidel. Was fun to look at all the stuff; amazing what games can do these days.

I thought at the end of HL1 G-man puts Gordon into some sort of cryogenic stasis and at the start of HL2 when you are being awoke by G-man since he needs you (again) to do something, and I guess you are put out again at the end of HL2 ??

Yeah I hear you Insomniak, but I really wasn't into single player games much until recently. I have played Counter Strike competitively for 3 years and just decided to try out HL2 single because the graphics were so amazing. Now I think I will go back and do the 1st one but I think you can understand where I'm comming from.

Eh I played through about 3/4th of the first one. I thought it was pretty boring and never finished it. Just didn't impress me at all and got old fast.

Now half life 2 I LOVED.
