half life 2 video problems

im having trouble with hl2... i had not played hl2 in about 6+ months and when i tried playing it again, i had to update my drivers for my radeon. i then loaded the game, and in the game i can see the white lines that make the background... and it is very screwy. i know im running direct x9.0... but im not sure if it's ver.c. i have bf2 and run that fine.... anything i should do to fix this?

 
i did... i completely uninstalled the drivers and even the devices... uninstalled catalyist, and then reinstalled it all.

is there some option or tweak on hl2 that i need to check?
