I just watched the Demo and I was blown away, and that was jut to show off the lighting!! Could anyone give me their opinion on how my Radeon 9700 NON-Pro would do?? My Core clock runs at 276Mhz which is slower than the 9600Pro, but it has more pipelines, etc. I get about 15,920 on 3DMark2001SE and around 4450 on 3DMark2003. Of course none of the graphs in Anand's review show a 9700np card, but it seems like the game will rely more on Chip architecture, and raw GPU speed. I also have a new rig with a ABIT IC7/ P4 3Ghz/ 1Gb RAM/ Audigy 2, etc. When I put my rig together I wasn't really into gaming, so thats why I limited my budget for Video to around $200. So now I'm wondering how this game will play on my rig??

Anyone's opinions?

Your board will be awesome for that game, and your 9700 Non-pro, even at 276 MHz, will be significantly faster than a 9600 Pro (except in the REALLY heavy DX9 feature parts. In those scenes, it will only be slightly faster 😉 ).

Thank you very much Spicedaddy  😀 I'm gettin' 225kbps off one of those mirrors you linked and the download started instantly :sun:

Many thx for the links, Spicedaddy. D/L'ing now @ 175 Kbps. The Fileshaft cue would have me waiting over an hour for a max 100 kbps rate.

Thanks for the mirrors. Off the last mirror listed (thecheatfactory) I was getting just above 900KB/sec.

<-- Can't wait to try out HL2

I'm returning my new unopened GeForce 5900 Ultra. Next week Saturday is the last day to return this thing.

IMO the management at Nvidia doesn't have their act together, don't care, or don't have competitive skills. Or all three. They got blind sided on this and they are probably in damage control mode. Not a good place to be when trying to manufacture QUALITY products. Updated drivers aside, there is no reason for me to keep their top of the line card for results like this. Even though I purchased this card on sale at $400, I am expecting Nvidia (or any company for that matter at this price) to take "care" of it's product during it's life. To take 'care' of it's products the company must have an excellent managemt team. IMO this is Nvidia's REAL problem and that is what needs to be addressed. They need a shake up in management.

This doesn't mean I'm jumping to ATI as I'm sure they have their managemt issues too. That said, I also believe they have worked better as a management team. It shows in their products and how they position their products in the market.

For now and the next 3 months, I'm waiting until all this dust settles.

I just saw the demo. Is everything supposed to be so "Shiny"Text? Even the damn creature is very glossy. I don't mean to complain, I love the demo, but does everyone see the same thing I'm seeing? Or is there something wrong with my video card?

Yes, it's supposed to be all shiny. It makes things look real because it light is bouncing off things realisticly. The demo has nothing to do with your video card, because it's only a video capture. Your card should be able to display those kind of graphics when it comes out, though. Too bad mine can't. 🙁

I think they over-did the shiny surfaces in that demo on purpose to show the DX9 technology. Valve wouldn't over-do it that much in the game, and it doesn't seem like they have from the gameplay videos.

I got a good download rate at "thecheatfactory.com". 13 min 40 sec @ 144 KB/sec. Haven't installed it yet, so I can't attest to the integrity of the file.

Anyone run this on a TI4200-4600 yet?

Just curious.
