Half-Life 2: Save games missing

The issue I am experiencing is as follows:

I played through part of the game on medium and then decided to do it on hard. It seems that if you start playing from a different part of the game, saved games from the other are lost. This does not appear to happen when playing straight through.

I am talking about manual saves as I do one of them ever now and then to make sure I don't loose anything but it seems if you then start playing the game from a different point that you save games are lost.
 
I found that half my saves were "missing" too, but I think it may be that you have too many.
If you go to your Steam folder, or main HL2 directory, then you will see all your saves are still there.
You may just have to delete a few of them (or move them elsewhere), and the others will appear in the load option of HL2.
I think for some reason the game only sees a certain number of save files, even though all of your saves are there.
 
I'll give it a go. I think there were about 100 or something when I looked. I'll give it a go when I get home. 🙂
