I have been playing Half-Life 2 for a few days now and have been very impressed. So then other day i was reading a review and decicded that I would turn up my resolution. That is where the problems started i set in to 1280x768 and i guess my old 17'' couldnt support it so i recieved a signal error from my monitor. So i hit CTRL ALT DEL and exited the game. I ended up haveing to re-install it twice. NOW it will not even let me go into the game, when i click the .EXE nothing happens. Anyone know how to fix this????? and also is there a way to adjust the resolution now that i cannot enter the game, it seemed like STEAM was saving my resolution settings even after i re-installed....
 
I believe there's a way to start HL2 through steam in Safe Mode... maybe a right click will do it?
 
Sounds like your monitor couldn't support that resolution maybe? Or your video card drivers were requiring a refresh rate too high for your monitor. The problem doesn't sound like it lies in HL2 but in your video card drivers.
