Half-Life 2 Performance

Any one know why I only get about 40-50 FPS? System: Athlon 64 3500+, 2GB Ram, 6800 Ultra. I think I should be getting much higher than this.

My 2500+ and 9700 Pro gets more FPS. Wanna trade? 😀 😉

Maybe vsync is on eh? That rig of yours should be smoking that thing at 1024x768... lol.

Yea something is definitely wrong if you can run it better than me. Those settings are recommended by the game, so it's not like I'm pushing my computer to its limits.

I used those settings. A64 3500, 1gb memory, X800Pro. I got consistantly around 100 fps, indoor places sometimes went as high as 200. Lowest was 60ish in huge outdoor places. I had to turn on vertical sync though. Too much tearing.

peculiar....i've heard of 6800 across the board not living up to their potential. try disabling sound, yadda yadda, its a new game, so bugs are sure to be found in the first coupla weeks. a patch may address it.

Wow that is WAY to low. I consitantly get in the 100's with a highier resolution. I don't know how to help you need to give some more details.

I don't know why but my framerates sometimes drop very quickly and drastically. I can get 100 fps in HL2 but it changes to 30 fps and back to 60 in a matter of 2 seconds. Same thing in far cry, if I look at trees, my frame rates go to 20.
