There is no release date yet. They've just said they plan on handing over a "release candidate" over to their publisher in August. I would guess some time in Sept.

too bad it will cost me like 250$ cause i need a new videocard as well

Yea, I saw your specs in the other forum. That 4600 will run it (albeit shoddy). What're you thinking about getting?

I personally found a good deal on an X800 XT for $385. I'm selling my 9700 PRO to help pay for it.

deal and 385$ dont belong together, ill be lucky if i can find 200$ for a new one, most likely a 9800 pro

$500 card for $385 = deal!

Also, the 9800 PRO will work well, but keep in mind if you have less than 1GB RAM that that will also be a pretty big factor as well. I saw a huge performance increase in Far Cry (which should be atleast as resource demanding as D3) when I went from 512 to 1GB.

Yeah...I think the 9800 PRO will be good to go for these next set of games as long as the rest of your comptuer is up to snuff. I am waiting on my new A64 3200 and NF3 250 with a GB of RAM. I am hoping that in combination with my 9800 PRO, I should be good to go. I can't wait to see how much better Far Cry runs (upgrade from XP 1700+, 512MB SDRAM, etc.).

I'm actually thinking that Doom 3 is going to be less resource intensive than Far Cry while HL2 will be more resource intensive...of course I really have no idea whatsoever.

I'm sure you'll be fine with a new 9800PRO. I have heard that there are are a few deals on new GeForce 6800 (vanilla version) for around $250...now that does seem like a good deal for the increase over a 9800PRO (usually around $180-$200). You might want to look into that.

I'm gonna grab HL2 but unless they have a counter-strike 2 that's worth it (unlike CS:CZ) I'm gonna stick with CS. I'm still addicted years later.

This time last year everybody was fighting over the 5800u vs 9700pro. And how ATi's would of performed better. OMG how much money did ATI pay Valve again!?!?!? ..... How funny.

They're porting the original CS to the new engine. The games fundamentals are identical, but it'll come with updated maps and weapons models.

Not sure what else they might be changing like new guns or maps, etc.

if you get CZ you will have access to the CS:Source beta. I bought a CD key off ebay just for that

btw, don't be an ass... you don't know how lame it is for nvidia to be paying all these game companies (EA, etc.) to optimize their games for their cards, and stick their stupid logo in them too... I mean, wasn't the whole purpose of directx to unify computer hardware so we didn't have to deal with crap like this??

can't wait till hl2 coems out. personally i enjoyed hl more than doom, and i know i'll be wanting to play CS. w00hoo!

At first there won't be any differences save for the updated graphics, engine, physics, etc. You'll be able to move barrels and tables and such. The new engine allows for HUGE maps though, so there will probably be new maps out that are 10x the size... jungle maps, huge urban maps... Gonna be great.

That's called CS:Source though. There is a Counter-Strike 2 in the making as well. I don't know much about this though.
