The lame black-box canceling and bullshit orange box deal completely turned me off. I've already own almost the entire Valve's original catalog (HL + exp, CS, CS:S, DoD:S, HL2, EP1), so why force feed your loyal fan another copy of old game? Give it to a friend? Gimme a break. Lamest excuse ever devised for greedy money grab. I'll wait until I can try out TF2 to see if it's really worth the hype. Portal seems gimmicky to me, and EP2 doesn't appeal to me that much anymore. There's plenty of other games that's competing for my attention and money. I'm playing Quake Wars demo right now, and despite some of the flaws, it's pretty good mix between old ET and BF2. There's also tons of single-player mods for HL2 that I haven't tried. Some of them looks really polished. I can always kill 10-15 minutes playing Antlion Trooper.

I absolutely loved HL 1, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift. I played through all of them several times. But I never bought HL2 and EP1, because I'm still ticked off that I have to connect to the internet and let the big-brother software call home in order to play a single-player game.
I'm almost ready to cave in. What should I look for to get HL2, EP1, and EP2? I'm not especially interested in the multi-player stuff. And I really want to know what the heck happened at Black Mesa and who the guy in the suit is.

I remember when I got crucifed for complaining about the ep idea Valve was making.
At least the tide has turned and for once I can, "I told you so".
But down back to reality....Hl2 has a large enough fan base to charge that much. Wasn't D3 $59.99 when it first came out? Sheesh. I don't even remember it being on a DVD either.

Half-Life series is the MOST overrated game ever.
The game is good, but not that good.
Valve is milking this thing for all it's worth. Sadly, the only thing Half-Life has going for it is the fact that the story is so incomplete. If they made the story half understandable, people would stop playing.
As it is, they just come out with more BS storyline that makes no sense at all, forcing you to buy the next installment to get closure.
thats funny!!
as stated earlier this is my favorite pc game. Funny how it's also the highest rated pc game of all time as well on IGN.

Listen, I'm sorry if I came off harsh, and I don't have any personal grudge against you. I'm just sick of people bitching about the Black Box/Orange Box fiasco. Steam screwed up in the first place by offering the Black Box at all...but think about it, I don't believe that they ever announced a price for the BB. Let's assume that since the standalone price for Ep 2 is $29.99, and the OB is $49.99, the BB would have been $39.99. For ten bucks more you're getting two games that were around $70 combined when they first came out.
So yes, it sucks for us that own the extra two games. But it doesn't suck enough that people aren't going to buy it on principle. That's just silly.
Sorry if I singled you out.
