Here we go again!!!

Unlike Doom 3, Half Life 2 has no build in benchmark demo but it has full benchmark functionality. To run a Half Life 2 timedemo you must first modify your Half Life 2 shortcut to include the -console switch then launch the game.

Once Half Life 2 loads, simply type timedemo followed by the name of the demo file you would like to run. All Half Life 2 demos must reside in the C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2\hl2\ directory.

Immediately upon its launch, we spent several hours playing through the various levels of Half Life 2, studying them for performance limitations as well as how representative they were of the rest of Half Life 2. After our first pass we narrowed the game down to 11 levels that we felt would be good, representative benchmarks of gameplay throughout the entire game of Half Life 2. We further trimmed the list to just five levels: d1_canals_08, d2_coast_05, d2_coast_12, d2_prison_05 and d3_c17_12. We have put together a suite of five demos based on these levels that we believe are together representative of Half Life 2 gameplay. You can download a zip of our demos here. As we mentioned earlier, ATI is distributing some of their own demos but we elected not to use them in order to remain as fair as possible.

Criteria:

System specs:
Mobo
CPU
Mem
Graphics card
Driver Version
OS/SP
If o/c'd (system and/or graphics card)
Benchmarks in designated test decided upon.
Anything you guys can think of to add, let me know

Will do. It'd be nice if they'd let the pre-loaders play it since its gone gold...

Kudos for accepting benches from us fellow users again, Keys. I'm ordering it today as a birthday present for myself, since no one else got me one :(
Can't wait for the game to come out.

PC Gamer UK gave it a 96%.
Regular PC Gamer gave it an even better score - 98%. That's a tie for the highest score they've ever given out (the other being to Alpha Centauri).

Thanks again, Keysplayr for making such a nice thread.
Can't wait for the game!!

p.s: Why do you keep making the same mistake by saying "Consolodation" instead of Consolidation?
p.s2: Isn't it too early to make this thread? (I bet you were afraid that someone would steal your idea and post the thread before you  :D)

Agreed, but apparently the litigation between Valve and VUG only allows Valve to release HL2 on Steam once VUG has released the game to retail.

I'd like a Bench-Mark Format...Anyone Agree?

Not a bad idea. Should make Keys' life easier when getting the submissions as well.

Thats a LOT of information for just one person to delve through espically if they have 10 or 20 people sending the info.

I think CPU/Video and their speeds should be used. Keeps it nice and simple.

Wait a minute, there could be no timedemo in HL2 similar to the one in Doom 3, this way each one will have to run his own demo which results in different scores!
In this case we could agree on a specific demo that someone would build.

I would wait to see which demos the reviiewers use. Maybe we can use the same. If not, PFD's suggestion would be the way to go.

lol... think again

Actually, there's a possibility of getting over 100FPS with his setup, since a 6800GT gets 90 FPS at 1280x1024 with 4xAA on the stress test.

the stress test has no decent load on cpu....nothing to calulate its all gpu

then he'll be cpu limited for the most part with all the physics and ai of the actual game
