The funny part is I never said anything about it being better because of God; I specifically laid out my two conditions of 'acceptance' in the last post. Go back and read what the paper says (if you can get through it) and then see what I said.

when thats all you have to say you know you've shut off reason long ago. you know very well its some arbitrary nonsense written about food prep long ago and simply claimed as holy to control the population..and it has no special importance beyond that. i guess you are just another sheep. it has nothing to do with faith, but simply controlling people by claiming this or that is the right thing..why? because god said so..

I wasn't there so I wouldn't know. But I'll tell you what I think. I think that you probably ought to leave people and their beliefs alone if you disagree with them. Even if you're not religious, you'd know that would be the honorable thing to do.

Exactly.
I'm atheist and no big fan of some of the aspects of Islam, but I respect other people's religion to the point where I will go out of my way to purchase Halal meat when I'm having Muslim friends for dinner. It's called tolerance and courtesy.

You should try it some time.

Gah! I was tempted by the smell once, but my stomach taught me never to go back.

I tend to find halal meat to be more fresh than what I get at the local grocery store. As far as lamb, I wouldnt get it anywhere else but the chicken you cant tell much difference.

Yeah I think we have a Halal butcher around the corner and I was thinking of trying the lamb as well. Thanks for the imput.

Does Halal also mean it should be organic and/or free range, or would the butcher have to specify this?

Its basically Muslim Kosher. It tastes the same and the nutritional content is the same. Its just drained of blood and blessed by any abrahamic religion prior to killing

How could it be less painful than being instantly killed from a shot to the head?

Halal does not mean organic and/or free range. Just means it was killed in a humane manner, whatever the hell that implies.

absolutely, when i have a chicken shawarma from down the street, it's Halal meat. tastes like great chicken to me :)

and we should all try to be tolerant of people's beliefs. who cares what people believe if it makes them happy. what i can't stand is someone who can sit on here and flame religions and beliefs. that has got to be the biggest waste of time i can imagine. why are some people so focused on what others believe? who cares!! :p
