HAL, please open the podbay doors.

Cannot find podbay door driver.

Abort? Retry? Fail?

No worry. New HAL will come with superhuman strength and force the podbay door open.

saw that video before. That thing is f-ing creepy. Moves very lifelike as far as robotics is concerned. Kind of reminds me of a small, 4-legged version of those bi-pedal Metal Gear things in Metal Gear Solid 4.

Another 5 years and you'll be able to buy one for $20 to help out around the house. :p

I always wanted a mule I didn't have to feed. Well, feed it electrical juice, but that's not so bad. Would be sweet if it plugged itself in. :D

Q:Can I go outside wearing HAL?

A:Currently we recommend the users to stay inside for the safety.

Translation: irreparable psychological damage might occur to the wearer if seen outside by regular humans, as the typical response tends to by hysterical laughing and pointing.

That's my reaction to the idiots scooting around on those Segways. In fact my niece once asked a guy on one if his legs even worked.

haha 10/10 :D

I think Segways are awesome and would love to have one to play with. But I just don't see their practical day-to-day use. The off-road model looks pretty cool; the video of it going on a trail looks fun, but wouldn't you rather be pumping along on a mountain bike or taking a hike with a SO than riding an electric skateboard through the woods?

I absolutely despise Segways for the RIDICULOUS hype that preceded the announcement of them. For Christ's sake, they were talking about eliminating cars and revolutionizing transportation as we know it. Yeah, that happened -- at least for security guards in mall parking lots.

Pretty cool device, that HAL. Amusing name choices, but if the medical benefits are real, it may be a big boon to some people. Further, the military implications are awesome. ;)

I, for one, welcome our new Japanese stormtrooper overlords. I want one!

(Holy thread resurrection, I know)
