Guess you're still a little raw after that last thread huh, CAD? No matter, I can fully elaborate a great many non Presidential aspects to Katrina's followup if you wish, but this thread is specifically about the Obama v Bush aspects to disaster relief. In other words, no, I don't believe Bush holds sole blame for Katrina. Blame for Katrina falls on a number of people and entities, but to submit that there is some kind of parity (there's that word again you have so much trouble with!) here between how the two presidents have handled things with these two disasters is the height of partisan stupidity.

I see a few others have already elaborated on the state level responsibility regarding Katrina, and that's all well and good, but that doesn't change the FACT that Bush's apathy and cronyism made a horrible disaster even worse. Obama knows full well where the buck stops, whereas Bush didn't and probably couldn't have cared less.
If Bush had the same handle on Katrina that Obama seems to have on things now, I'm willing to bet that a lot of Americans would be a lot better off today. If that stings your partisan sensibilities, well tough shit.

This whole thing is only two days old though. Plenty of time for Obama to pull a Bush, declare the real emergency to be in Barbados, and relocate resources and manpower accordingly. Then you Obama haters can go nuts, and I'll be there to applaud.

As much as Katrina was FUBARed (failures at the federal, state, and local levels... .plenty of R&D screwups)...you are right. I think the U.S. had great responses to both the tsunami and the typhoon that hit myanmar. So many more factors involved sending stuff to a foreign country with an unstable government.

Unfortunantly there are few studies to show the effects of long term Ganja abuse...

So America becomes the food pantry and doctor to the world? Why doesnt, say, Venezuela have any responsibility in helping? Or Mexico? Why is it always America?

Oh, that's right! Haiti is not part of the United States! Haitians don't pay taxes to the U.S. government. We thus don't have any sort of a moral imperative to help these people, now do we?

Not because we have too, not because those suffering people are American`s, not because if we do not send aid nobody else will. We are sending aid because it is right!

You actually think this is Obama`s katrina.....
lets look at facts...
Obama has already mobilized aid and food and medicine, we are sending troops to Hiati because there will be wide sprerad lotting and that country needs to be policed, the poor need to be protected as well as the rich!!

So far if this was Obama`s katrina he has done a very good job!!

There are paid propagandasits for the Republican Party - armies, actually.

They note when a Katrina happens, and the Republicans are damaged.

And they watch for chances to reduce that damage. almost always with an attack on Democrats. How can they get people to stop saying 'Republicans are bad' and say 'Democrats are bad too'.

So, the moment a disaster happens NOT in our country having NOTHING to do with our government's cost-cutting mistakes and NOTHING to do with the President singing at a party while thousands of Americans are standing on rooftops hoping for rescue and other crisis situation, they leap to say "Haiti is Obama's Katrina".

Keeps the money flowing into Treasury from others, good for PR, and these are people we are talking about. Try and put yourself in another mans shoes (or in Haitis case bare feet) - it helps. Trust me.

I don't think he thinks that. Keep in mind conservative mindset - all aid should come from private charity not federal.

Course with clowns like Pat, who doesn't even know Haiti is 90% Christian and thinks they worship voodoo dolls my guess is Private charity won't shore up the damage. Certainly not from his flock.
