I get my haircut when it gets long enough to start getting in my eyes. That's annoying.

Mm, no. I've been long haired before. You haven't been aware of my threads before. I'm sure imageshack still has my photos of me with longer hair. I look stupid.

Don't you ever get tired of CONSTANTLY ripping on yourself? It's no wonder your self esteem is in the shitter...

Yeah just go to a salon, say "make me look good" and make sure that you don't want to look like an emo twit or some anime tsunami surfer furry or whatever.

Sometimes. Usually, I am just in shock & awe that I can come up with so many ways to bash myself. It's annoying to be able to bring out so many arguments for why I suck and hardly any good ones for why I don't.

Well, I hope you don't expect that to change things any time soon. You're giving people ammunition to form negative opinions of you faster than they can make them up themselves.

Meh. I don't usually bring it up in real life unless I am deeply depressed and angry.

I would like if this thread went back to the links I posted with images of haircuts and not my whole lack of self-esteem and confidence!

No, that's not big, mine is like 2x the size. as nkgreen mentioned get your eyebrows done. I'm not trying to put you down man. If your hair is cut and styled nice and your eye brows are good females will start looking at you. You mention self esteem and all that. It just takes one female mentioning she likes your hair or eye brows and you should get a surge of confidence. I would definitely say you should try something short, spiky and shiny. And don't carry yourself dwelling on your negatives, everyone has them. Focus on what you do got and work with that. Hair is a good place to start, I'm not a good looking dude. But when I get my hair cut and styles I almost always run into a female that same day who wants to touch it. If that happens to you trust me your confidence will sky rocket.

Okay... Hopefully it all goes well. I know a guy already who cuts my hair and he is known for being good so I am going to have him try it.

The eye brow waxing/trimming/whatever I guess I have to go to some salon for... I don't know which or how I am going to go along with it, but yeaahh... this will be, "TridenT becomes a metrosexual" or somethin'.

Alright, tomorrow I am going to a place in Portland and getting my haircut there... Should be just barrels of fun... Hopefully I get some great advice while I am there on how to style it and what to use, etc.... I'll have to buy some pomade at wal-mart as well.

Feels like social suicide right now. FML.

There's nothing wrong with asking a barber what he thinks would look good especially if you already know the guy. Just tell him you want to change it up but your not sure what cut to get.

I thought there was a website that did a pretty good job on the hairstyles. I know when had hair style changes, it took me hours on photshop doing it. Unfortunately my hair is thinning so the style looked bad lol.

It seems like men never talk about this. So, I don't get how they come to a conclusion if they don't have a SO to give an opinion.

That's because men don't get their hair styled. They get it trimmed to a managable length. There's nothing to discuss.

You're hanging out with the wrong dudes if your male friend don't talk about this. I go to a black barber shop and it's normal for the guys there to discuss hair cuts. Contrary to what ATOTers may say, it doesn't make you gay if you care about your hair. You don't have to live with being content getting the same boring hair cut for rest of your adult life.

Unlesss you obsess about your hair, like gays and women do, why would a haircut become boring?

(Looks up Ironman) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ironman_Triathlon ASS... No way. :(

edit: My answer about your haircut -- who gives a fuck? It's a haircut. Just go and get it cut and see if you like it. If you want to do something new, ask the stylist what they think would look good.

Hey man,

I'm going to transcend the usual trend here at ATOT and not be a sarcastic dick. Your posts are highly indicative of the way you perceive yourself and it's really sad. There's absolutely not a single thing wrong with you, you've just decided there is. You have no physical disabilities nor any disfiguring scars. So why rip on yourself so much?

It's clearly a coping mechanism you've developed to deal with the world. I'm sure it works, but it's crippling your ability to lead an effective life or, if it hasn't yet, it will. Nerp, gave you a great piece of advice -- start working out. Put on 5 - 10 lbs of muscle. Take up hiking, backpacking, orienteering, skiing, or something. Just starting DOING and stop worrying about what people will think. I promise you that if you were to take the plunge and go post on ATHF about wanting to compete in a Triathlon, a marathon, or just wanted to learn about how to get in great shape, you'd find a group of people who could really support you.

Taking up a new physical activity would do two really important things. First, it would get you off the computer. In my personal opinion, people who a predisposed to depression and low self-esteem have those feelings amplified by spending lots of time surfing the internet or whatever. There's no medical evidence to back it up, but I think you'd feel better.

Second, building a stronger body for yourself will help you realize what you can do versus what you can't do. If you take up lifting you'd be amazed at what the bar can teach you both about yourself and your life. Going to the gym doesn't have to make you a muscle-bound moron. I'm in far better shape than my totally ripped friends, but I don't look the part.

Anyway, I really really think that doing something like a Triathlon would have enormous benefits for you and you'd start to realize that haircuts aren't a big deal.
