I went to a salon for a year when I first cut my hair short. They did a great job but damn was it expensive. Now I go to a barber shop and found a woman who does a good job for $12.

I just had to pay $30 (which includes tip) for mine. They do a good job there, but you feel like the lonliest guy on the planet inside. Several of the woman hairdressers bitch about their husbands not taking them out, not appreciating them, as well as general male bashing. I'm glad I got out alive :p

I've grown my hair out the past 5 months - it's not long like shoulder but its getting to be curlyish as it grows out. Everytime I go to the barber they're like.. one or two clip? They have no concept of like just a regular trim cut, I think I may have to start going to a salon since a woman's touch might be what's needed.

I mean, I've got long curly-locked hair and I'm afraid at what a barber would do to my mane.

I only get a trim like once or twice a year so the extra 15 bucks is not a problem for me.

Am I a metro-sexual? Not really.
I do regularly bathe and wear clothes that match though.

nothing wrong with getting a good haircut from a salon... now if you get a mani/pedi too... then you would be questioned ;)

dumbass. go to a barber, 12 bucks for a skilled person who knows what they are doing. I go on saturday mornings and they have a couple of TV's with some kind of sports or "man show" playing. its a old place one of the tv's is sitting on a old coke bottle (glass) dispensor, i like the atmosphere.

I don't care. Of the places I've been, barber shops have sports on tv, magazines (cars, sports, games, guy stuff like maxim, fhm), and a casual atmosphere. The salons I've gone too had better looking chicks both doing the cutting (hey, gotta have something to look at for 20 minutes) and around me waiting for their haircut.

In the end, I go to the place that gives me the best cut for 15 bucks. Current place is only 9 but I give them 15 anyway because I like the service and 15 is how much I used to pay for a haircut I didn't like as much. I'll go 12-15 depending on the cash I have on me.

Not many barber shops around here, just a super cuts and a fantastic sams. I try to avoid the chain stores. The haircut was only $20, i'm just too big a tipper.

I would go to a salon but I wouldn't even know where to begin when it comes to hair styles.
I really dont know how much they could do, or what they could do with what I have.
Anyone know a website with pictures of various mens hair styles?

if you go to one they will have books for that and they will hook you up. stylists know what they are doing and can get you a look that you want.

I'm no metrosexual but I've never been to a barber. I don't have really short hair and I'm afraid of what a barber would do. [Barber slaps on clipper blade and hacks hair off]. I might look like a skin head with my thin blonde hair.
