i have had thin hair my whole life. just started to notice I THINK its thinner...but either way.. its hard to deal with but its just who you are just like having brown hair or blond hair, i say, flow with it, see what happens?

24? Consider yourself lucky. My hair has started thinning and the hairline has been receding for about a year now and I'm only about to turn 22!

Then again, I rarely get enough sleep, am always stressed out about retarded things...

If it is genetics, then you can try what is known as the "big 3" in hairloss treatments:

1. finasteride (i.e. propecia)
2. minoxidil (i.e. rogaine)
3. nizoral 2% (this is a shampoo)

For more info, go here:

These are pretty much the only tools you have in fighting hairloss. I started to lose my hair at 20 (so OP, 24 is nothing).. and the big 3 helped curb the hairloss.

or is this an example of seeing what you want to see? 🙂

Man, my hair's thinning a bit at the top (crown or whatever it's called). GF and friends have all mentioned it if they look at the back of my head. And I'm only 24 🙁 Probably due at least partially to stress from work. Oh well. Any good solutions (short of surgery and/or shaving my head) to thicken up that area? I don't want to shave my hair off cause i still got PLENTY on my head. Just want to cover up a thinning area.

just get a crew cut or something. that way you don't look like one of those guys whotries to comb a few strands of hair in a combover.

Hey! I'm very creative with my combovers! I can part my hair on the side, then fluff up the front so it kind of stands straight up---looks decent and I don't look nearly as bald (a hair stylist lady in the office gave me the style 🙂 ).

lol, I'm glad you're one of the few who can style their strands. That's an artform you know 😉

The best way to be objective is to take pics, preferably right after a haircut. After you have a series of pics, you will be able to line them up and see for yourself whether or not you are making progress (or at least not losing any more hair).

this thread reminds of of the time when my pops started to go bald. I think he was around 30 something, and he tried just about every tonic that was available under the sun. finally he gave up and just dealt with his balding. I love my dad, but thank god my grandma had a lot of hair 😉

dude, its so simple and cheap

its called the big three

1) Finpecia(generic propecia) www.inhousepharmacy.com (stop loss)
$52- 3months
2) Rogain foam- Minoxidil (regrow)
$25/3bottles 1 bottle = 1-3 months EBAY
3) Nizorol Shampoo- Ketoconazol(Fungus, dandruff killer) (help regrow)
$15/bottle- 4 months

Thats like 20 bucks a month or something

1 pill a day..(very small, can take without water)
+ foam twice a day(just like styling mouse but no residue)
+ shampoo twice a week

+ 3 months = no more bald

works for millions

Unfortunately for you, baldness can be inherited from either side of the family 😉

I assume you were referring to the old myth that baldness comes from your mother's side of the family.

Bah you! You weren't supposed to tell me that! **curses special k and runs off to buy more hair products**

Yeah I'm just praying that it doesn't get too much worse. a little thinness is okay as long as it lasts till i'm at least 60. I figure by 60 i'll have grown tired of sex... can any old timers chime in on this?

Actually, I have another hair issue that pisses me off to no end. I have a cowlick right smack dab on the crown of my head. This tuft of hair sticks straight up when everything else stays flat against my head. Makes styling/haircuts virtually impossible. Only thing I can do is try to slick my hair back and hope it covers it up. Gets very noticeable with short haircuts. Man wtf ever happened to plain old straight hair? I debated shaving it off but the gf promised she'd break up with me if I did... I believe her.
