Race stuff has always been an issue, but it was never taken quite as seriously in the peaceful period between the Rodney King riots up to Obama's term. Often because it was made comical by the people talking about it (e.g. Jackson/Sharpton, or "Bush doesn't care about black people" Kanye). I think it was really the Zimmerman case that brought it to its current glory. There was already long precedent from Nancy Grace & co for jumping on the accused and sensationalizing any local crime to an international spectacle, but until Trayvon Martin, it was usually always a female white victim, either of murder or rape. Initial reports of this angelic 13 year old boy ruthlessly murdered in cold blood by a redneck uttering "Fucking c**ns" was a great start, and Obama and the DOJ taking the bait legitimized it. Give it a bit of time to stew and a not guilty verdict, and voila, Black Lives Matter, a brand new generation of young, race-centric trolls is born. I think it will calm down again sooner than later, but with Trump around, who knows.

That happened years after Zimmerman though, and obviously there was a lot outrage. Roof was charged with murder immediately and will almost certainly be convicted and receive the death penalty. Horrible, but not really controversial.

Personally -- as a so-called "white person" or any kind of person -- I'd be tempted to rearrange the intruder's face. I might actually go over the edge and do it. And I might find in the wrong state at the wrong time with the wrong person that I'm going to get blown away.

So the nexus of gun laws, the situation, and something I could call the "Zimmerman Ladder Effect" (** see note), precipitated a "Not guilty" verdict for which we suspect the defendant was also "not Innocent."

Roof's mention of this -- I hadn't heard it before -- is absurd, unless I misunderstand what someone was saying in earlier post.

Anyone scraping along near the lower rungs of the economic ladder may find it more satisfying if they have some other group to disparage. Zimmerman was half Caucasian, half Latino. He sort of fits that profile that would exhibit some frustrated belligerence toward the darker group.

But Roof? They ought to suspend restrictions on cruel and unusual punishment. By the way -- I have an idea for a "Tie" of Time Magazine's "Persons of the year," more like "Arrogant Assholes of the Year." Maybe "Onion" or some parody could print it. Who knows what Time will bring, or which photo they'll choose for it?

Race relations have historically been terrible in the US, for obvious reasons. It didn't need to be talked about much as long as minorities knew their place, or when the media (and in fairness society in general) effectively put a moratorium on it as a face saving measure for much of their audience. Political correctness wasn't for the victims of racial prejudice, it was to help racists paper over uncivilized behavior, and damn are they sick of having to do that.

But it's pretty evident what's going on under the surface when you observe what inevitably arises when the topics crop up, esp when some brownie does anything untowards.

What do you believe the headlines would have looked like if Zimmerman were black and Martin were white? What do you believe the legal outcome would have been to Zimmerman in that case, all else being equal? Where do you believe that the bickering internet sides would have been drawn?
LK said that the Democrats are racializing politics. But a simple objective observation of the circumstances, by doing more than reversing the roles, shows where the real racializing is occurring.

So there's some vigilante packing heat following an "urban" kid around, and some altercation results; the "thug" gets shot and our protagonist gets away with it. This is basically the ultimate fantasy of every other conservative gun nut, which is why they need to ensure Zimmerman stays a free man.

Heres Video of Symone Sanders [CNN] saying "Oh poor white people" when asked her thoughts on a white man being targeted for his skin color [by black men] and then beat to a pulp, robbed and his car stolen - all the while black onlookers are mocking the victim saying "he voted for Trump". Zero liberal outrage over that!! Infact, the media tried its best to act like it never happened.

So the video of the beating [posted below], the above voter intimidation, the above belittling by a black woman [CNN anchor] of a man who was beaten for his skin by black people - thats ok? Lol, and people wonder why more and more people dont care about racism when it seems its only bad when its from white people, but ok or ignored when not from white people. Unreal.

Funny you were taught all about that muslim history & such by the alt-right, and choose to largely ignore the directly relevant kind that's embedded deep in american society, with present behavior a lineal descendant of the kind openly pervasive not that long ago.
