Great games back in the day, and they still are fun to play.
Too bad game developers today can't go back to these core basics of what made these games so fun, and create something, today, that is like this series.

kings quest 6 was definitely one of my favorites.

i heard that a group of people was making an all new KQ game....forgot the site though.

Quest For Glory .....I think I started a thread about the first game in this series last week. Looking for people that remembered "Hero's Quest" the name of the game before it was changed to Quest for Glory. Yea , it was the first game I ever played on PC , and what addicted me to RPG's for all time.

Space Quest I and II were awesome even before they did the VGA conversions on them. All text based input and arrow key controls rocked! I remember taking a tour of Sierra On-Line and meeting Al Lowe the creator of Leisure Suit Larry.

QFG1 was great, then they came out with the VGA version and it was incredible. Awe-inspiring VGA graphics and it was just a ton of fun to play.

You must be joking, right? KQ games were notorious because if you fcuked up one tiny thing, or missed one little queue, you couldn't beat the game. Very bad game design. Sure they were popular and have a nostalgic factor to them now, but I wouldn't call them "great".

I don't remember any instances where something you did made the game unbeatable... generally if you could do it, it was part of the solution or at least didn't stop you from finding the solution. I didn't play all of them though, only a couple of them...

In QFG3, if you waited too long, you couldn't get whatshername out of the cage and beat it, but that's the only time I recall this being an issue in any of the Seirra games.

There was one of the King's Quest games (the first I think) in which there was something you needed to pick up near the beginning of the game, and if you missed it, you couldn't procede past something very late in the game.. But that's the only instance like that I can remember in a King's Quest game

The Silver Lining

It's a fan made game, not by Sierra, and it's supposed to be KQIX. They had some legal trouble with Sierra and had to drop the King's Quest name but they got a green light to continue and the KQ setting will not change.
