So I call them up to ask wtf, and they said the UPS guy made it to my house, but I wasn't available to sign for the package and they couldn't release it to anyone else but me. I was like, first of all I live alone, and I was available to sign.

She said that she will make a note of it for that driver, but I said it doesn't matter, I don't give a shit at this point.

Will Amazon refund my $4.00 over this? lol

It was for a OCZ Vertex SSD -- I wasn't in the mood to really reinstall Windows tonight anyway...lol

They usually ring or knock and immediately start walking back to the truck.

Half the time they don't even knock.

This. I've had them put that same exception before and the driver never even came to my house at all.

UPS is a bit crap, so I had my last delivery sent via FedEx. To my delight, I checked the status page and it seemed to be arriving a day early; it was listed as "on truck, out for delivery." When nothing had arrived by 8pm, my hope was quite thoroughly dashed of getting my package early. I checked the status again and it said "not due to arrive until tomorrow." Well what the fuck? You stuck it on a truck just to take it for a ride? I even saw the delivery truck in my neighborhood around lunchtime; you just drove my package right by me and didn't bother to drop it off? Bastards.

So really all the shipping companies have minor annoyances which really don't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

my cousin had something similar. so he called them up to tell them to hold it at the center, he would pick it up the next morning. He calls the next morning to be sure it is there, and they tell him his new video card is on a truck back to newegg, as he "refused the shipment"

fucking lunatics...

lol, I had a package from Fedex arrive today via Next Day Mail with no issues. It's funny because the Fedex one was a 24lb Microwave, the UPS one was probably less than a pound. Ugh.

My UPS driver, Joel, rocks. If I'm not home, he'll go into my backyard and stick my packages thru the doggie door.

Then he makes himself a sandwich and takes you sh!t while your not home and walks away!

Sure, if he doesn't mind the video camera that's watching him. Not like he's fit thru either. And after a year, I'm not too worried.

Don't reinstall, just clone it.

Well I am running a Windows 7 install now. I want to go back to my plain old non-evaluation version of Windows Vista. 🙂

He went to the wrong house, knocked and asked for Mr X. They said Mr X isn't here. Bingo. Exception. You weren't available at the wrong address. 😀

UPS hasn't given me any issues where I am. If I'm here I can hear the truck go past to make a U-turn so I know to get ready. Usually she waits long enough for me to get to the door, after she knocks and rings the doorbell.

They probably left the package at the terminal. I used to work for fedex, and when that happened they would usually wait till they made it back at the end of the day and enter a exception code for undeliverable and try again tomorrow.

Heh. Had UPS deliver half of my PC parts 20 minutes before FedEx came with the other half minus some RAM which was delivered via USPS about 10 minutes after FedEx last July. The only problem I've had so far with shipping was FedEx.

They took literally a month to get me a package that they sent to Maryland. I live in Michigan, and have ordered from the company and they shipped by FedEx several times. Every time they send the package from its origin in Texas to Wisconsin, over the lake to my house, and it takes about 5 days. It wasn't anything big and shipping was free, so I didn't press it.

Same. I actually saw him drive down a cul de sac in my neighborhood, then 5 minutes later I saw him leave my neighborhood, then later I saw the time he "attempted" to deliver it. He didn't leave anything on my door. A week later my neighbor across the street told me he had left the info notice on THEIR door.

damn within less than 30 mins the info made it to UPS?

shens.

They once sent a package of mine to some place in New York state, something like 200 miles away from where I live, in Erie, PA.
Evidently it made it to someone's house before the error was discovered.

You heard it here first, folks.

Capt Caveman loves it when his UPS driver, Joel, goes around back and shoves his package into the good Captain's doggie door.

Giggidy.

Wow, UPS here does not suck as much. Then again, it's not really UPS, it's a private company that handles UPS packages. The worse thing that happened is they left a 1000va UPS sitting in the snow, but in their defence, it was early morning, the lights in the house were on, and it was behind the car (out of public view) so they probably knew someone would be coming out of the house very soon.
