she just called me to tell me a pretty damn funny story:

so she was at a gas station and decided to pay with her card. apparently she rarely pays at the pump so she isn't used to the routine. well she's sitting in her car (it was raining outside) waiting for the pump to click to indicate it was full. well she hears the click and knowing she has already paid she just drives off. nozzle still in the car. well it rips the hose off of the pump and she continues to drive down the road. people are honking at her and she is like what the hell is going on. finally she looks in her mirror and sees what the hell happened. she goes back to the station and they take down her name/registration because they have to file it as 'vandalism to a pump'.

too f'n funny.

I never trust those auto-shutoff things, I'm always afraid they'll overflow and leave a massive puddle of gas. Oh and your sister is DUMB!!

Vandalism of the pump even though she came back? That is crap...

Though, I'd agree that she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

In over 20 years of putting gas in my vehicle, I never had one overflow.

I hated the ones in England. They don't have the auto shut off feature. You had to hold the dam thing the entire time.

LOL!

My brothers ex girlfriend did that once, but it was kinda the station attendant's fault.. Usually, you tell them how much you want, they put the pump in, and start pumping.. when it's done, they come back and take your money.

Well, the attendant came back and took the money before the pump was actually done, but she didn't realize it, and drove off.. lol

lol, that's great...the worst thing I've ever done at the pump is forget to close the gascap.

All you people calling her dumb is in itself dumb. Absent minded, yes, but not dumb.

Edit - Although maybe she is dumb, I don't know. This particular incident though does not make her dumb.

happened only once to me

On a similar note.....my ex wife called me up awhile back all hysterical claiming that she left her debit card in the slot on the pump, drove off, and it was stolen. I explained to her that you have to put the card in and pull it out immediately before you can even pump gas. She just wanted money from me......scandalous indeed!

stfu about her being dumb... it's not about being dumb, it's just a matter of attention, we all have those times when we are not paying much attention to everything... it can happen, my dad owns a gas station and i see this happen at least 10 times a day... just because you don't see it often, doesn't mean people are dumb.

Sharp as a marble.

actually that auto shut off thing mentioned earlier in this thread malfunctioned on my dad about a year ago. The tank was full and it kept pumping and it overflowed. Luckily my dad was still standing beside it to shut the damn the off.

Absent minded or dumb? How about both? What kind of person forgets to remove the pump nozzle? I mean seriously. She heard it click off and decided her tank was full so she could drive off. That alone tells me she knew the nozzle was in the car. I mean unless she was at one of those experimental Shell stations that were built in the late 90's that had the robotic arm that used some sort of mapping program to know where your fuel door was, open it, take off the cap, fill the tank, put the cap back on, then close the fuel door.

I'm sorry....but driving off with the nozzle in the car is more than absent minded.
