I fail to see where in the 14th amendment or civil rights act it says it is unlawful for an employer to discriminate against preference in beer.

I swear, it simply AMAZES me the phantom "rights" people yank out of their anal orifices.
While I think it's completely unfair, I don't see what recourse he has. That is, unless he signed a contract of some sort that sets guidelines on what is an acceptable reason to terminate it prematurely.

Like someone above mentioned, the cola companies are like that too. I was working for a company that sold a product to Pepsico, and I went to the HQ in Plano to install it. I jokingly mentioned while in the company cafeteria to my contact/escort there "hey can I get a Coke with lunch?" You'd think I mentioned killing the president. He went "SHHHHH!!!! Don't say that out loud!" And was very serious about it.

that's very true. they're pretty nuts about that stuff.

The company I work for is doing the security system for a Coke dist. plant and our company color is blue, all our shirts are blue, but for Coke we had to get different shirts just to get the contract.

Funny how serious they are about it.

Yep. My father used to work at a F500 company that had heated rivals, and you did NOT shop anywhere but where you worked. If you were seen at a rival's store -- it wouldn't be good for your career. I remember my father getting his parents to go get bar-b-que sauce that was on sale at a competitor, because he didn't want anyone to see him in there. We lived about 15-20 minutes from the closest store that his company owned, and were only 5 minutes from a local competitor. My mother would send us in the local competitor occasionally when she needed one or two items and needed them in a hurry, but she parked in the far corner and we were supposed to go in quickly and come out. It is a big deal to many super-competitive companies, so I'm not shocked by this at all.

I work at bank "X". One day somebody on the street handed me a flier that said come to the grand opening of Bank "Y" and receive your free gift! So I did, and got a free travel mug. I use it everyday at bank "X" , and it has "Bank Y" prominently plastered on it. A few coworkers gave me grief about it, but I just said that when Bank "X" gives me a free travel mug, I'll start using theirs.

I also have accounts at several other banks. 😛
