Haha~ sucks for this guy

Seems to me both sides are playing really nasty.

The Japanese "research" seems a total sham, so I can see people being highly frustrated. These guys seem to go too far sometimes, but it always seems like the Japanese are in far larger ships and the Sea Shepherd people can't really be much more than an annoyance. A major annoyance perhaps, but are they doing something that poses any actual danger, like, say, sinking one of the Japanese ships like the whaling ships have done to them?

They should torpedo every whaling ship, Japanese or otherwise.

Maybe it's time for the eco-terrorists to hijack a submarine...😛

I don't get why whaling is bad, the Japanese kill whales to eat their meat and use their blubbler... so? We kill animals all the time for food and using their parts. What makes killing a cow, pig, etc okay and whales not?

Because they're being hunted faster than they can reproduce. Cows and pigs aren't in any danger of disappearing from over-hunting.

Because they are on the endangered species list.

No, not all of the hunted species are endangered, and the Japanese mainly hunt unendangered whales (depending on whose estimates you use). In some older ATOT whaling threads, this information has been provided.

By the way, even Americans hunt whales.

BTW, cool avatar

The Japanese caught 12393 whales in the past 20 years. That comes out to be 620 whales a year. Of that, 11294, or 91%, was the non-endangered minke whales. Of the endangered or vulnerable whales, the Japanese took 1099 whales, or at a rate 55 per year.

International Whaling Commission

Minke whales number well in excess of 300k. The hunted endangered or vulnerable whales (4 species) total to over 100k. This is not over-hunting.

If they are hunting whales that aren't endangered, and people shouldn't be throwing hissy fits about it. Whaling is fine, it shouldn't even be illegal, it's just another form of fishing. Whale blubber is useful too so it's not like the Japanese are wasting whale parts. Eating animals is the advantage humans have for being on top of the food chain due to technology.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is going to do much more harm than some whaling ships. Fix up ATOT.

while i have little to no sympathy for the whalers. I also think the eco-terroist should be handled far harsher then they are.

first time they tried to ram the ship or board it i wouldnt care if the whalers shot them.

i think they are doing there cause more harm then good. Everytime i watch "whale wars" i root for the whalers. i also laugh at how fucking stupid they are.

Fcuk the whales... When they gain the ability to fight back. THEN we'll talk. ^_^

Edit: this does not include idiots jumping into a tank without a weapon.

what the fuck? anyone else having some deja vu?

wasnt there another thread about this same exact topic where some fucking moron called the guy who risked his life to try and divert an illegal whaling boat in japan an "eco-terrorist"?

The Japs have every right to kill the nuke happy whales!

That guy is a huge douchebag. I hope one day he boards the wrong boat and someone murders the shit out of him. I would genuinely be happy if he died. What a prick.
