Haha! My brother got charged $25.35 for running a toll booth!

He claims he didn't run it, he just went through the EZPass booth without the EZPass itself, he says he couldn't get in any other line so he just ran it. He also wants to fight the charge, which is gonna be pretty damn hard, he says that he'll tell 'em he had the EZPass, just not in the windshield at the time or something. Government sent a nice little notice with a picture of our car running the tollboth, pretty damn funny and now I can pick on him for a change

I ran through one once on an offramp (I swear it was an accident). I think they give you one freebee, did your brother do this before?

I heard they've got pictures of people out of their car, covering their license plates with their hands as they're driving away.

My brother hasn't done this before, so i don't think you are correct about the freebies, although maybe they are just out to get us 😛
 
Funniest automated toll story has to goto dad.

When driving up to Ottawa he saw a sign that he thought implied exact change but has he got there he realized it was an automated toll. A few weeks later he gets a letter. C$50 fine + $.50 for the toll. He wrote a letter to them and explained that he refuses to pay. They write a letter back telling him he must pay the amount. Dad writes again and tell them that he is willing to pay the $.50 for his mistake but not the $50. A latter arrives agreeing to the situation. Dad writes check for $.50 and ends that story.

Gotta love red tape.

Not bad, at least he didn't get charged the full amount.
 
Heh I did something like that once. The last time (before this last one) my car got rear ended on the traffic circle from hell, they gave me a loaner car. I forgot my ez-pass in my own car and went through the ez-pass lane. Got off went through the ez-pass again and I got a bill in the mail for I think $20.20 ($20 or $25 for the fine and $.20 for the toll) So I called them up the next day and told them I forgot my ez-pass. The woman said she would make a note in my account. Fine came a few months later. I called them up again and they told me to just send the $.20. So I fired off my 20 cent check (with a 34 cent stamp 😛 ) to ez-pass. Haven't had a problem since.
If your brother or another family member had an ez-pass account at the time of the violation. They'll probably just let him pay the toll. If not he's paying the $25.35. 😛
 
Man, you people still have toll booths? There's only one toll highway near my house and it's fully automatic. Just drive on it and you get a bill in the mail. That's one thing I hated in the States...there's always traffic jams near the damn booths!
