how about handling? when i drove the is350 vs the 330i at the taste of lexus event, i was left impressed by IS's power, but felt that the 330 handled better around the corners

i guess i've just given up on life, i'm not sure what public street everyone is driving on when they talk about the differences in handling.

ok lets put it this way. if priced similarly, which would you buy (considering you were looking to buy one of these two) - a six speed manual 335i? or a six speed paddle-shifted is350?

and you dont have to exceed the speed limits (by too much) to appreciate a car that handles better. The Taste of lexus course was small and tight, so we didnt even exceed 30mph. The lexus just felt floaty around the corners whereas the bimmer felt sure-footed

edit: i should mention that I'm a fan of both cars. Im just trying to say that one is not the hands down winner for all. The IS350 might be a better fit for some people, the 335 for others...

Where do you live that you have no corners?? 😕

BMW exterior/performance + Lexus interior

I saw my first new M3 the other day... was not impressed. I'm sure it's a great car, but I didn't really feel there was as much of a gap between the M3 and the 3 series as there was between the older generation ones

I agree! I heard that BMW is working on making a car the runs on babies! BABIES! And Mercedes will soon release a car that runs on puppies and kitties!
Down with those Euro bastards!

I will say that the IS250/350 is my favorite sedan right now by far.
With that, Lexus totally fvcked up the Performance version.
Seems like the front end is a little longer and that side pocket thingy is hideous.

seconded. edit: in lieu of the autospies movie (which was quite cool), i offer this RS4 video instead. still quite good:thumbsup:

doesn't lexus tend to have a lot more electronic safety systems (or more cautious ones at that)? i think it was a review of an IS350 that complained about all the extra electronic nanny systems. if they're on the IS-F as well, it definitely can't compete with the M/RS/AMGs.

The back 3/4 of the car looks good, but the front is a fustercluck of ugly.

Agreed...I was really hoping for something better looking from Lexus. I love the look of the curretn IS...I was hoping they would just descreetly change it.

seconded. doh.. looks like autospies removed their cool RS4 movie 🙁

They've addressed that actually. You can completely disable the stability control systems in the new models as well as the IS-F.

I would like to see Lexus offer the IS350 with a traditional manual transmission though. I'm not crazy about the paddle shifters in our Lexus IS250...and I've had plenty of time behind the wheel to know that I'm not fond of it. Although, the six speed automatic does shift quickly I'd still rather have a traditional manual tranny (my wife can't drive a stick though so we got the auto).

I made it a point for my gf to learn how to drive stick and now she is fairly comfortable driving and even enjoys it a bit. I also believe that the added involvement make driving safer as you don't have a free hand that could otherwise be used to eat, drink, etc...

i think i remember reading/seeing the car having an 8 speed transmission! WHO THE HELL NEEDS 8 GEARS????

and no, this wont destroy the M3.

Another RS4 vote. Old vid, but it is one of the best for getting the sounds of the engine, annnddd boy does that sound nice. One day ... once they are done being pillaged/raped by their previous owners I might be able to afford one 🙂(read: used car)

edit: heh forgot to leave my thoughts, that vid got me all excited about the RS4 again.
I'm not a fan of the Lexus, looks gross, and the lack of manual is an immediate F+ in my book.

Oh please Spe,

just because you get a hard on for Merc and BMW doesn't mean everyone has to...personally I am not a fan of mainstream status brands, and while Lexus might be the leader of the pack in resale around here you wouldn't know it as Merc and BMW still "rule the roads"...not to mention I really think the Germans can take a few lesson from the Japanese when it comes to reliability, pricing, service, and support....
