Electric Amish...

No, you'd want to call Sales. 1-800-244-1111. Good luck with them, they border on incompetent at best.

If you DO get DSL, & have a Cisco 675, I'd be more than happy to help you network it.

Damn! I was hoping you could pull some strings. ;)

They tell me that I'm better than 20k feet from the main office/switch whatever it is....

I won't have DSL for a long time....

Yet, they have just upgraded all the current users to 640K... :(

Nah, at 20K feet you're rougly 30% over the ideal range (<15,000). 15-18K is considered maximum, and at 20 you're SOL.

He could get IDSL...144k...it's about the same price per kilobit as the lowest SDSL speed from my company, 192k. Just slower. I think for residential it's a bit more expensive per kilobit though, not sure. Don't even know if many telco's sell residential IDSL.

'm not going to give any specifics, I'll just say that I do tech support, & Russ called me. I was shocked, to say the least.

How did Russ find your phone number?

Russ,
I hope you can find my phone number. We might then start some kind of relationship ;)

I'm in the same situation as you, Amish. :( The annoying thing about it is that there are NO residential lines available in the neighborhood, even less DSL lines. You'd figure that Qwest would upgrade the system when they are completely out of phone lines, but I suppose we're just not important enough, what with a hospital (which is also short on phone lines) about 150 yards away.. :disgust: Yep, and the very cheapest offering for IDSL here is $99 per month! :p
