Had resume professionally done... didn't go so well.

They paid to have a resume professionally done, not to have their formatting and structure professionally done, not to have the font professionally chosen, not to have the margins professionally set. All of that stuff goes into a proper resume, along with spelling.

Mistakes happen, but the lady sucks for passing the buck.

I bet your resume gets thrown out quite often.

Spelling words right is something anyone can do, that's not why you'd pay someone to write your resume for you. She obviously should have caught the mistakes, but she didn't.

What kind of response are you looking for here? Do you want us to tell you not to pay her?

I say just move on....you live and you learn

That said, you paid for a service, you got it, but it was not A grade material. That is unacceptable. I work in an industry where i write lots of specifications for clients. Spelling errors and typos are NOT acceptable. This is an engineering job too, so there is alot of "I am an engineer not an English major" mentality and typos and spelling errors are still not acceptable. This person makes resumes. It RELIES on her not making those petty mistakes. The OP has every right to bust her for it. The good thing is that these problems usually resolve themselves. The bad news is, the resolution usually has no justice to the client.

Mostly this.

I wouldn't want to work for someone that threw my resume in the trash because I had an "an" instead of an "and".

That's fine, but that's the way some places are. Resumes are very short documents with very high standards, to some people the composition is as important as the content. Whether you agree with that philosophy or not, I'd expect the product of a "professional resume writer" to take those standards into account. To get something back that would get instantly trashed by a portion of the people who would look at it just seems silly.

Of course, if this was more of a first draft, that's a bit of a different story. But still.

Need a clearer pic of her elbows. k thx.

It is definitely very sketchy that she didn't print out this resume and proof-read before sending it to you.

I don't doubt her credentials, but perhaps she didn't have lots of time and you guys got the short end of the stick? Sure the spelling depends on spell check, but shouldn't she also be conscious of that? And also... what does she edit this thing in, notepad? How did she not "run a spell-check" ? DID YOU OR DID YOU NOT SEE SHIT UNDERLINED IN RED? Done.

In the end, you really can't get your money back because she could start a bitter little argument about it and it could get messy. Who knows, she knows all about your GF so maybe she could screw her over?

The thing is, these people can post whatever they want on the internet. So the only way I would hire someone to do this is if they were recommended to me. For that reason, you owe it to yourself and others not to recommend her to anyone.

wait, you had a lesbian do a resume professionally? aren't they better as lifeguards or starbucks barista? 😀
