Damn, that store sells everything. Went to the new one located in the League City area of Texas. Store is huge and uses a Nasa theme.

Fry's is awesome. Even their game selection is pretty good, as you can sometimes find games like Starcraft and Deus Ex for $10.

Fry's is good for picking up not so fresh games and bulky items (like UPS or printers) which would cost a ton to ship. But their pricing is not that great for everything else.

Never, been to a Fry's store? I've no problem bringing my Canon Rebel/300D and taking pictures at the Downers Grove, IL store.

I managed to pick up an 80 GB hard drive for $50 - free after rebates. I love Fry's, although their motherboards here are usually bad for some reason...

Then you've been lucky, or they've changed their policies since 03.

I watched a group of employees/loss prevention take a camera away from a guy, pull the memory stick out, walk him out of the store, then hand his camera back, sans stick.

There used to be a fry's sucks site that had lots of other stories about how they treat people taking pics of the stores, but I can't find it now.

I used to live in Anaheim, so was close to both the Anaheim Hills and the Fountain Valley stores. Yeah, I've been to Fry's a few times. Though I'm still trying to figure out the theme of the Vegas store. Roman pillars and slot machines?

That is complete FUD.

ECS has the lowest failure rate in desktop boards.

Not in my house: 3 ECS boards, 2 failures within 6 months, one after 2 years. (anybody got a working K7T somethingorother for my Athlon 1800 rig so I don't have to wipe windows and start over?)

I work in the industry....that's complete BS.

ECS are the most unreliable pieces of crap I have ever worked with...and I've worked with plenty of mainboards. Sure...they have their "okay" boards once and awhile like the K7S5A that was so popular....but most of it is junk.

Please explain why they are the #1 OEM board supplier.

i've had 5 ecs motherboards in my house, and none have ever failed or died on me. though cheap and short on features, i've always found them to be reliable. the do what they're supposed to do.

Most consumers are unable to understand how volume impacts the perception of reliability. When more product is sold, it is only natural that the consumer will hear of more failures. That does not mean that the actual percentage of failure is higher, just that there is simply more product out there to fail.
The best example of this that I can think of is the infamous Ford Explorer Firestone tire. That tire is actually the safest tire, per-miles driven, of any tire ever manufactured. But because Bridgestone/Firestone made and sold so many of them, they became of a victim of their own success, and the target of unscrupulous lawyers and politicians willing to exploit raw numbers of failure (which show a skewed picture) rather than the actual percentages against the millions and millions sold.

The Vegas store is actually rather plain from what I remember. I was there maybe 7 months ago and nothing stood out too much as far as a gambling theme..

that tends to be how they are, either doa or work just fine. i'm using one right now overclocking a 2400+mobile barton to 2.2ghz with socket pin mod:p built about 7 systems with the combos, had to return 2 boards.

Our Vegas store is designed to encourage people to purchase items on their way to/from the airport.

Themes are not needed; to many different themes just down the street set up fornovice suckers.
