Title says it all: was seen at 10:00AM at the oral surgeon office, and by 10:30 I was already awoken and escorted to the recovery room with a mouth full of gauze pads.
Doc did a really good job as far as I can tell: all teeth came out whole (even though I had huge cavities in 3 out of 4), and I only had to take two pills of Vicodin afterward to keep the pain in check.
Still, not a fun day at a fair.
Getting me to sleep took a little bit longer than normal: "Here, breathe on this. Have you ever had laughing gas before?" - "No, and it doesn't seem to have any effect". I was doing deep breathing with my nose - and nothing, just a little light headed from oxygen poisoning. So, they gave me something else directly into the vein - and whoa - that was like having a bottle of wine poured directly in. 20 seconds after that - and I was out.
They did my lower teeth first (impacted), and then upper ones. By the time they did upper, I was regaining consciousness and I could hear them talking, making jokes, etc. I could even feel how they grabbed the left and then the right tooth and yanked them out. Feel, as in - how you feel dentist drilling your tooth when it's anesthetized. I wanted to wake up and look at the instruments, but strangely couldn't.
Half a minute later - and they tell me: "All done, you can now wake up". "What, you aren't going to do my lower ones?" - "We already did". Uh-ohs :Q
So, that's it. Sipping on chicken broth and eating yogurt.
How was your Friday?
