I quit my job on sunday night/monday morning. I was working for the Price Chopper (supermarket) Perishable warehouse, which is basically a refridgerator the size of a shopping mall. I worked second shift, which is normally 4pm-12:30, but on sunday they were forcing double shifts on us. I heard for the first 2 weeks working there, you aren't allowed any overtime, but they didn't seem to care (it was the beginning of my second week btw). Going on 13 hours, I finished up my order, walked into the office and quit. I am summer-help, which is basically the bitch. I have to work full-time, doing the same job as everybody else, but they only pay me 9.50 an hour, and normal starting full time is 11.75. I am not at all pleased with golub (parent company) at all. On thursday when I get my check, I am going to drop a complaint with Human Resources about the conditions. As a side note, there are 30 employees out on compensation and disability at the moment, and there were 3 injuries the night I quit. Two people were force 2 double-shifts in a row (32 out of 48 hours) and fell asleep behind the wheel as a result of lack of sleep. They got into car accidents. On the way home from the medical office, my best friend (one of the injuries--strained shoulder, can't lift >15lb, or and above his waist) dozed off for a second on a straight-away. Thankfully, he woke up in time and is ok. He is going to finish the week and quit.
EDIT: spelled "conditions" wrong.
